this might be of interest to those of you who still think about parrondo and his paradox.

oh, I know that parrondo himself stated that his paradox doesn't work with casino games.  :)

cheers

you might enter" A Simple Parrondo Paradox.  Michael Stutzer" into google. this should also take you to the document.

Well, I tried to read it........

Here's the deal.  He says to play two separate games of blackjack.  Well, there are not two games to my knowledge.  There is a game of blackjack followed by a game of blackjack.  So this is so far over my head, I can't grasp the basics.

Can anyone?  Can anyone put this into wording that leaves out the formulas?

Been reading this over and over.  How do you get past his first statement?

"It is assumed that the bet is favorable"

You can assume an elephant can fly, but don't bother looking up.  There are only a couple of bets I know of in BJ that are actually favorable to the player.  They are rare!

He goes on:

"But if instead he wins in one game while losing in the other, he would have 5000(1.05)+5000(0.95) = 5250+4750 = 10000, and would need to reallocate 250 from the winning game to the losing game, in order to maintain the 50% allocation weight in each game."

You have game one, two and three.  Where is there a winning and losing game?

Is he merely dividing his bankroll into halves and calling himself Joe and Jim and when Joe wins and Jim loses, he allocates Joe's winnings to Jim?

Where are the mathematically inclined members who can explain this?
