This is a response to a member's PM that I thought was worth posting for the forum at large.


"Another of my favorite progressions is the paroli, ladder method.  It's a cousin to my flatbet parlay.  You can read about it here:

I prefer a 3 step parlay.  By that I mean let the wins ride 2 times after the original win.  That's 1-2-4-8.  So +8 minus your original 1 unit bet = +7 net.

The line looks like this:  1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-2-3-3-4-4-5-5-6-7-8-9-10-12-14-16-18-20-23-27-31-34-39-44-51-58-66-76-86-99-113-127 etc... depending on how much money you have to risk.

This line is really way too long, but I put it up since I had it already figured out.  I play 11 attempts at a triple before I step up by 1 step and play the next 11 attempts.  So 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-2,  If I lose these 11 I'm down 15 units.  My next 11 bet series is 1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-2-3 This is a 17 unit loss if I happen to lose.  Any time I recover all my losses +1, I reset.  You really do need to read the reference link to understand what I'm doing here.  It saves me a lot of typing.  Also, there's nothing sacred about the number 11.  You can bet any number of attempts before stepping up 1 step.

When I start playing, anytime I'm at a new high bank, I reset.  And I don't bet more than is necessary to reach +1.  Often times this happens on the 1st let it ride or the 3rd meaning that I don't have to bet a full parlay to be ahead.  At least in the early stages of the line."

You saved yourself a lot of typing. I like to save a lot of bookkeeping and accounting.
All these ladders differ from the direct progression on the paroli with "DOUBLE UP".
The problem with the original Paroli: NOBODY KNOWS WHEN TO STOP.
I prefer to wager both Red & Even (or Black & Odd) at the same time.
And I only double up both here and there after winning both at the same time.
In all other cases: Start Again.

I have not chosen Red & Even/ Black & Odd at random!
There is an uneven distribution:
Only eight of the red numbers are Even!
Eight numbers lead to double up. Another Eight numbers = loss.
Zero might mean losing half (according to rule in Europe).
TWENTY NUMBERS MAKES NO DIFFERENCE (winning here and losing there).
In other words: In the majority of all cases I´ll step down from the Paroli
without losing all. Without stress. And without having to think or calculate too much.
