I see Richard is no more a member here and his website/forum is down. Victor might know.

Yes, we had some issues as I was teaching him to code.

He might had the impression I was being rude to him due to a bad nigth I was having and me telling him why would porting some would be complicated. (thinking he ment it complicated for me).

After explaining about the part of his message which confused me, I tried contacting him via email under the direct approach asking him to shoot straight on what I did wrong, and vouching for it not being too late.

There was no reply and next thing he removed all posts from his forum. I got the message and removed local copies of the forum as his last message was about the end of the road and he continuing his roulette journey alone.

I still respect him enough to grant his wishes.

Also, I have released the ownership of the domain roulettesolutions.net

I hope this helps in getting a picture of what happened. At least from my side of the event. You may want to contact him directly to get his impressions.

In my PERSONAL OPINION (I repeat, my PERSONAL OPINION...) Maybe this episode was a trigger for something he subconscious wanted to do for some time. If I take it at face value, I can only see how it would have been enough to the extent of only a misunderstanding which could be fixed by further friendly talk.

I think he have may over-reacted to the message of the code not being difficult.

I can understand him taking his membership out over the new IT discussion place.. as it was pertaining over there. I was completely surprised when I came back here and saw him as "Guest" after Paul complied with his wishes to remove his membership here and of course further astonishment later at seeing him wiping his own forum clean :o.

In my personal opinion it was a trigger for something he wanted to do for some time now as my comment couldn't have been worth a triple membership removal plus a whole forum wipeout (again, that is in my opinion --and no there wasn't any "dirty word" at that, just something which may have sound impolite in an intellectual fashion: Me telling him the code wasn't difficult which could have implied him not being capable enough of grasping the programming concepts we were debating. There was not faulty language nor personal insults --there wasn't any reason for me to say that, it was programming-only what we were talking about).

For further communcations with him, you may want to send him an email at the address still posted at: link:://:.roulettesolutions.com/

Kind regards.
Victor

Very distressing for you.

I hate it if someone misunderstands me and just flounces off like a spoilt child without any discussion, or opportunity to clear the air.

Frankly, it's his choice, Victor. Try not to let it 'get' to you.

A shame he couldn't have been a bit more kind to you, given the recent personal traumas you've been through recently.

But, as you suggest, there's probably something going on in his life that's made him act like that.

If the door is left open he might well return with an olive branch and with peace in his heart.

Well, I'm getting more calm by the day.

In my opinion, Richard just wanted out of his internet life.

There is no way a misunderstood programming-related comment about the difficulty of a code (without any bad words or personal insults) to be worth removing his membership in 1 IT related forum, 2 roulette related forums, wiping 1 forum of 150+ members clean and the deletion of his other .com website.

Sounds like he had a complete Meltdown  :-\
Its Set In Stone =)

Thanks for the update, Victor. I enjoyed his concepts and hope he is well.

There is still google cache for the forum.

Interested people can browse through the content.

I DO NOT HAVE ANY CONTROL REGARDING GOOGLE'S CACHE OR ANY OTHER WEB CACHE OUT THERE.

I did comply to Richard's wishes on my end (what I can control) and wiped both the database at the server and all my local copies.

The google query being:

site:roulettesolutions.net

link:://:.google.com/search?q=site:roulettesolutions.net

Just today I had the opportunity to read the last post of his forum in full (link below):

Maybe the end of the road!!! TOTAL SHUT DOWN

Wow, I haven't coded for Richard in quite some time. I'm sure not in 2010. Before my attempt to teach him this year (2011), I referred him to Bayes for programming, so the issue with me goes back to 2008-2009! (mind you! I wasn't aware of it; he has been interacting with me as usual, as evidenced on forum's posts among us as well as in private communication).

From reading that Last Post on his forum that you mentioned it's pretty clear he was going to pull the plug on all his sites, plus his participation on this forum.

His reasons?  The clue is here:

"As you know I have provided the information for free and asked for little in return. On those
occasions, when I would have appreciated some information or feed back I have been largely
ignored!!!"

He was obviously completely fed up with give...give...give...with little or nothing coming back in return. That would have been very demoralising indeed.

So, Victor, I don't think you were a catalyst for, or the total cause of, his actions.

I think he'd simply had enough of being unappreciated for his endeavours.

And, surely, few of us would blame him for that.

VLS

That's reassuring to hear dear Esoito.

I do wish him well.
