Using birthdays?

Does choosing loved ones birthdays ever work well for a strategy? I've found that more times than not, if I choose a particular number for personal reasons, it doesn't work. Is there a reason for that?

Thats exactly how the mug punters play on the FOBT's, mums birhtday, the dogs 8, the number on me car, etc,etc.
No idea, but they win the odd day,but lose more days
