This is very cool. I downloaded it. Most casino tables don't allow phones and some say no more bets too early. How would you use this?

Its a very basic roulette computer. It shouldnt be news. They are mentioned throughout the forum. See :.roulette-computers.com (link:://:.roulette-computers.com)

I dont have the one mentioned but can see what it does from its functions. Might be a good introduction to computers.

Of course. You never use it out in the open. Roulette computers are usually hidden in pockets or shoes or wherever. You receive predictions via wireless earpieces usually.

As i understand it you have to use your phone on some distance from the wheel? Or you are forbidden to use it at all inside the casino?

They are forbidden everywhere, but legal in about half of casinos. ie you can be banned, but not charged if use is legal.

You typically click hidden buttons to time ball and wheel revolutions. Your distance to wheel is limited by your vision.

Title: Re: Interesting android app - The real problem(s) with roulette computers..

Just wanted to add some info about trying to use a roulette computer vs a casino game for real money.  In the end that is probably what most people are really interested in.

In my opinion there are two problems you will face when trying to use the computer in the real world.

1.  Will the computer actually work against a modern roulette wheel?

If you look at older roulette wheels they often had very high frets between numbers creating deep pockets.  This would often result in the ball dropping down into the wheel and stopping almost exactly where it landed.  This obviously makes prediction a lot easier.  Unfortunately if you look at a modern wheel they often have very low profile frets between numbers and the ball will bounce through many numbers before coming to rest.

Another difference you notice on older wheels is they typically had fewer ball deflectors (diamond shaped metal stud) on the apron than modern wheels.  On older wheels it is not uncommon for the ball to fall from the track and go down into a number without even contacting a deflector.  New wheels tend to have more deflectors increasing the randomness of spins and making prediction more difficult.

Before I would pay serious money for something I'd want to try it against a modern wheel and see some consistent results.  I would figure out in advance what kind of results I would need to see to prove the results are better than random.  I would also want to be sure the wheel that the test is performed on is level and balanced.  If the wheel is unbalanced such that the ball leaves the track at the same place on almost every spin or hits the same deflector almost every time this makes prediction A LOT easier.  But that is just the beginning of your journey if you intend to use this in a casino.

2.  Can you actually use the computer in a casino environment without being detected?

****First you should check the laws in the area you intend to use the computer very carefully.  In some places, like Nevada, it's illegal and could get you in some serious legal trouble.  Almost anywhere it's not illegal it will still be forbidden by the house rules and you will be kicked out and labelled a cheater if you get caught....

Assume you get a computer and it works against modern roulette wheels, or maybe you find an older wheel to play against.  Will you be able to go undetected by the dealers, pit boss and casino surveillance?

It will be necessary to first clock the speed of the wheel.  Then as soon as the ball is spun you will have to clock the speed of the ball.  The computer will take this info and attempt to calculate where the ball will land.  This information will be relayed to you and now you can place your bet(s).

What does all this mean?  In a nutshell, it means you will always be betting late, well after the ball is spinning.  If your consistently betting late and winning how long do you think it will take the casino to become suspicious?

I'm not saying it cannot be done, and I have huge respect for anyone who can consistently  beat casinos by whatever means necessary, but I do suspect that a lot of the people who sell these computers have found that it's easier and safer to make money selling the computers rather than using them in the casino.  This should tell you something.

Sherwin.
