It is very difficult to know what to believe since all we can know is what our governments tell us.  All governments lie about anything that doesn't fit their agenda.  I can't say our government is telling us the truth about the Ukraine and I can't think of the slightest reason to believe anything Putin has to say about the situation.  He has stated that the greatest catastrophe of the 20th century was the dissolving of the old Soviet Union so we know where he is regarding the Ukraine.  Obama certainly doesn't have the guts to stand up against Putin/Russia.  He'll probably just follow along on the shirt-tails of Eastern and Western European countries.  Seems like they're the ones who have the most skin in this game.

Twenty years ago I thought we were entering a time of world peace.  A time when countries would live and let live.  Unhindered by war.  Now it's getting worse than ever.

You're right, Ivo.  WWIII is just one misstep from a reality.  We've lived pretty good lives, my friend.  I was hoping to leave a better world for our children and grandchildren.  Doesn't look good for that wish to come true!

All I know to do is pray for peace and the Ukrainian people.  If war breaks out there, the Ukrainian people will suffer the most.

Teo - I haven't read anything about what you say about the situation with Russia ?

What I just read was that the Ukraine is an independent country & Russia has a large military/naval base on the Crimean Peninsular under an agreement for it with the Ukraine Govt. Russia has no direct say in how the Ukraine is run. CIA ? Russia too could/would be there, KBG/FSB maybe ?

No doubt most of us remember both Russia & the USA still have thousands of nuclear missiles. 

I also read that there's political unrest in the Ukraine & the leader was thrown out & fled to Russia (I suppose Moscow ?). There is now a new political group in control. It's because of this unrest that Russia is threatening to invade the Ukraine so as to protect it's interests there.
He was forced to leave,together with some others,under treaten of death,and the new political group with ex.boxing champ.of the world Klicko,who wishes to be a president mostly arived from overseas to Ukraina to take over.I ask you one question;What would Obama with his police do if tomorrow 3.000 ppl.occupy square in NY with baricades....would he negotiate for 3 months or clean it for a day ??

Under threat is a huge trade deal with the European Union.  On top of all is Obama warning Russia not to Invade an Independent country on the threat of sanctions against Russia.

If 140,000 people have been thrown out of their homes where are they living now ? Why were they kicked out ?Many of those gone to Russia.....those radical terrorist/as Kyiw is without police now/that come from many countries around/as they are paid for that/Bulgaria,Romania,Serbs,including Ukraian ppl.from Carpats/mostly shepards/throwing Russian families from their houses and flats and moving there....all in front of this illegally choosen present leaders.

Remember Teo in 1991 Russia changed forever by being divided into 15 seperate countries. One of these being the Ukraine, so for over 22 years now people that live there are Ukrainians & not Russians. Yes the language may be the same & people that live there would probably have a choice to live in one of the other 14 "Russian" countries or stay where they are ?Not quite so.

Having just read a little more on what's going on, it's certainly a complex situation. It seems that eventually the struggle will lead to a better life. There never as both are corrupted.

Corruption & lack of law & order are big problems. They way I read things it's educated Ukranians leading the fight for a better life for all it's citizens.If Klicko is educated,I'm then dr.sc.med.and many others.

They way forward is to eventually raise living standards to those of some EU countries like Germany & France.Mentioned countries are only looking for buss.poss.nothing else,no free nothing with EU.

I don't see much, if any USA support for terrorists ? How do you know this is a fact Teo ?

I'm glad I live in australia Teo, so far away from all this danger & trouble. Do you live in the Ukraine Teo or somewhere nearby ? I was glad when I lived down under for years......Croatia.

Realistically there's no use in getting too upset about the situation as 99.999999999 % of people can do sweet f... all about it. I can't do anything about it, what about you Teo ?Nothing....

As history shows political struggle & unrest has gone on for thousands of years. Ukraine is now adding another chapter to that history.

Teo - So you lived in Australia for years, one of the best & most trouble free countries in the World. Why didn't you stay here & make a good life for yourself like hundreds of thousands of Central Europeans have over many decades since WW2 ?

Perhaps you & the wife could try to resettle back here in kangaroo land ? At least you'd be away from all the drama that you can do nothing about anyway.
