Title: I got this from another board.....
Post by: MrJ on Jul 21, 06:02 PM 2010
Its not my question but lets see what ya'll think. Which is the better choice OR no difference? Betting the 17, all on the same wheel for 1,000 spins OR betting the 17 at 1,000 different wheels, one spin each? Just so I can eliminate the nutjobs, its airball. Ken

Mathematically speaking, shouldn't matter. Officially the events are independent trials ;)

Of course travelling across the country to bet on 1000 different roulette wheel sure matters in gas expenses :)

So all things being in theory equal, you are better to choice the single wheel.

Your transportation expenses/budget will thank you.

Ok, all the 'what ifs' are covered. You can teleport yourself there, new technology.  Ken

I'd still pick the single table.

In my "Gambler's Fallacy 101" book (:-X), I'd frame the flow of spins in a timeline and observe events.

'Observe events' means what? For this example, no viewing the wheel first. You walk up and start your 1,000 spins on that 17 based on NOTHING.  Ken

'Observe events' means what?

Observe oficially non-existent numerical relationships in groups of numbers = gamblers' fallacy.

Everything else being equal, your answer still is, the ONE table is your answer, correct?  Ken

Correct.

Mr J,

May I suggest "everything in moderation"... including that, itself.

Don't play it all at one table on one day to eg, avoid be cheated.  (Anyone recall those guys who went around the horse-racing circuits with a small directional micro-wave transmitter to confuse particular horses?  I have often wondered, do some of the rogue casinos have "sh*t" like that in their "arsenals"?)

At the same rate, don't spread it out too much.  Have to make the big money, lol , while it still has its buying power.

Then the game, itself, may perhaps be viewed as a form of cheating?

Beyond that, it comes down to one stream versus many... so that to allow for the possibility of hitting the 17 almost each and every time, say 5 minutes, you would have to play alternately between an optimal number of tables, say 200.  (And be extremely-prophetic.)

I could get more into this sort of "hypothetical" thing/concept, but it's been a long week here... apropos of Wendell.
