Victor or someone...when you type in the letter "R" in a post, to represent red on the board or wheel, it changes it to "are" in the post. is there something we can do about this???
Scooby Doo
R
R This one I have changed to RED
R This one I have changed to Bold.
Seemed Ok to me Scooby.
Is it because Ur putting the R in inverted commas?
That will signal something to the Simple Machine of the forum code.
"R" This one I have put inverted commas around it.
I'm just wondering if it is a spell check thing? Maybe?! ???
Hi Chrisbis,
If you look at the title of this thread you will see what I mean. I typed an R and it replaced it with the word "are"..........
Scooby Doo
Scooby, I have noticed this bug from the beginning. The way to counter it is to use lowercase r's and b's. It doesn't look as pretty, but at least we know what you're trying to say.
George
It may also have something to do with your Spell Checker.
If you have a Spell Checker in tools.
Then perhaps it put in Are instead of R.
Don't know.
Hello guys,
Yes this is the spell checker.
I activated it since otherwise the forum would be looking like SMS :-[
You have NO IDEA how important the spell checking function is these days. *plenty* of those rules around to embelish our readability.
This is one of those "casualties" (as well as letter Y)
There are few workarounds like Chris mentioned, one being encapsulating them within [nobbc][/nobbc] which disable bulleting board codes for what is inside the tags, including the spell checker.
A more elegant solution would be to add a selective per-post "disable spell checker" option... but can't promise on that.
Cheers!
I think that in this case of "R" vs are "R" should not be replaced, it is not used as often in this forum with "are" meaning. Making R with red color is not good, it is badly visible in my opinion, the contrast of red "R" against white is unnatural with white background.
