Moderators now have the ability to ban permanently or temporarily.
1. The forum rules are clear and available for everyone to see. Although they can be summarized to "be nice, be fair... and when a member is a problem, report them instead of retaliate. If you reciprocate bad behavior, expect action against you too".
2. It is up to moderators to decide how and when to ban, but the general guidelines for banning are:
NEW MEMBERS:
i. For blatant rule breaches, expect to be banned immediately
ii. For minor rule breaches, first a warning, then temporary banning (3 or so days). Further breaches result in permanent ban
LONGER TERM MEMBERS:
i. For blatant rule breaches, possible permanent banning but most likely temporary ban and final warning. Repeat offense = permanent banning
ii. For minor rule breach, warning. Repeat behavior, temporary ban and warning.
So these are basic guidelines. They are not hard rules, and it is up to mods how they wish to play things.
NOTES FOR MODS:
1. Do not delete accounts. We need them to track repeat offenders. I dont think mods have that set permission but if you do, please no deleting
2. Do not publicly tell someone off or warn someone. Do that in private. But it is fine to indirectly say something like "cool it guys" etc etc
NOTES FOR MEMBERS:
* If someone is a pain, report them to a mod and BE SPECIFIC. Give precise examples of what has been said, and why it bothers you. If you just say "mr x" is a pain, and dont give any details, mods dont have time to read every past post between you and other member to figure out what is happening.
* Nobody is above the rules, not mods or even me. Mods are members too like everyone so if a mod steps out of line, members can report that too.
