tacata............Is that a strange way of saying "TwoCat"?  My Redneck Mexican translates that as "You live life with gusto, TwoCat".  No?

Hey Iggiv,  Where in Russia do you live?  I once spent a Summer in Moscow.  I was involved in a cultural exchange program between the US and Russia.  Went to Zagorsk, St Petersberg, Kazan.  Traveled by train which was an adventure in itself.  The countryside's beautiful.  The cities, at the time, were a little drab.

Went back to Moscow a few years later, around 1998 and they were polishing it up quite a bit.  The subway was my favorite part of the city.  Too bad they wouldn't let you take pictures.  There's plenty of them on the internet now though.

Most of the young people spoke English better than I did.  It's a little embarrassing having someone correct your grammar when English is like their 3rd language.

I always felt just a tad bit vulnerable in Russia.  Could have just been me being paranoid.  Nothing bad ever happened to us while we were there.

It was the first time I ever had to pay for a few sheets of toilet paper when going into a public restroom.

My favorite place to eat was McDonalds.  At the time, it was always about 5 people deep at the counter.  You pretty much had to throw politeness to the wind if you expected to get to the counter.

In retrospect it was an exciting summer.  I actually get an urge every now and then to go back.  Unfortunately, it's gotten to be too expensive for a poor American.  When I was there before, the Dollar was strong and things were affordable.  Now the Dollar sucks and everything is way over-priced.

I'll probably just sit on the porch and rock my way into oblivion and dream about days gone by.

Cheers my friend,

GLC
