Title: Why do I get gobbelygook?
Post by: GLC on Jun 07, 07:08 PM 2013
Sometimes when I try to check out the forum, it takes me to a totally different home page that seems to be the wrong place.  This has happened 3 times so far.

Any one know what's up?

That remains to be seen since it has happened over the last couple of days.  Sometimes I get the forum and sometimes I get what seems to be a roulette web page designed to introduce surfers to roulette with tabs to go to a variety of different topics such as, roulette games, how to play roulette, etc...

Am I the only one who gets this?
Maybe it's something wrong with my Internet Explorer.

It is probably a nameserver missing something or use the same IP. I got it a few times yesterday.

If the server is down, or being upgraded, there will be holding pages. Error 404 is common, but Steve must have these ads to appear when the site is down.....it was an upgrade, so Chris said in Vics site. Servers cache pages, so you may get a cached page for a day.

George, please refer to the thread Turner's talking about:

The alternate site you mention is a landing page for click harvesting. Their least interest is to offer value! They just want your clicks to redirect them to advertisers  :o

CC not editing correctly ?  VLS  OK  CC NOT OK, as it used to be ? Can't move a sentence to the next line only goes to a paragraph space ?

Paragraph spaces close up on preview which then needs an edit rerun ? It's a pain to post. It took 3 edits to get the preview right ?

SMF 2.0.3 current version needs a upgrade/re-load very soon.

I'm sure our admin staff are on the case.  8)

I could not replicate the issue. If it persists, please give more detail so I can replicate it.

1. Steve - Just now I did a test on here, CC  & then the same test on VLS.    The results are different on both sites ( the same outcome as my June 8 post)
2. One line posts naturally won't reveal this fault.
3. On VLS I typed a line & hit enter and the line drops to the next line. Hit enter again & I get a double line space = the usual paragraph spacing.
4. CC was the same as that a while ago.
5. The CC problem is on the 1st screen when typing the original message. The spacings correct in preview but then this requires further editing for paragraph spacings.
6. Do a comparison test CC vs VSL & you should see what I mean?  Another thought, could the problem just be between CC & my PC ? Unlikely yes/no ?

To test here I'll type a few lines and press enter:

sdf
dagf
gasdf
rgf
asdrfgsda
rf
a

It seems ok for me. Try playing around with the format toggle, which is the blue arrow with red brackets in the formatting icons. See if this helps.

Must be something wrong, because of the HUGE space under "ausguy" last posting!

Are you clicking through to the forum via an old cached copy on Ur desk top?

Maybe, delete any cached/shortcuts U have, and do a Google/Search Engine search of the forum, and set a new one!

Steve - Yes TOGGLE VIEW fixed the problem thanks for that.

Chrisbis - Thanks for your suggestions.

Cheers, Ausguy.
