Title: Dealer lost out
Post by: MrJ on Apr 06, 11:04 AM 2014
Had a first on Saturday. I did quite well and wanted to tip the dealer but I do things a little different. I would rather place bets for the dealer(s) and if they hit, its MORE money for them. I was done playing and I put $600 aside for tipping. 3 numbers per spin, $10 per number. So its a nice $350 for them on a hit.

I tell the dealer (and floor) before I start but I always have one SIMPLE request. On a hit, I want the $10 back so I can re-bet it again for them, they get the $350 anyways. I have NEVER had an issue with this in the past, until yesterday. Usually, as long as you ask PRIOR to spinning, its not a problem. Well, this a** floor person said, no no..... the dealer gets it all on a hit. I said, whats the big issue if I'm re-betting it for THEM? He would not give in.

Being the jerk that I am, I thought...f**k it, then they get nothing. So I colored in and the dealer(s) did not get a dollar. I dont think I was wrong on this?

Ken

It's the way of the world today.  Nobody has any common sense.  I see it every day in construction.  Tipping is a gift.  If I say you can have this gift but you must take it with your left hand, and they refuse.  No gift!  Sounds reasonable to me.

Congrats on a good night at the casino.

Hi MrJ is the system you are using based on streaks? I have been reading some of your posts and have been using similar systems

Why tip the dealers at all?

They're getting paid aren't they?

They want you to lose don't they?

They enjoy beating you don't they?

Why tip the dealers at all?

Dealers get minimum wage in Vegas, and they even have to split the tips between all dealers that day.
They want you to win hoping you would tip more. They might even let you cheat if you tip well.

Eg, If a dealer forgets to take a losing bet, then immediately (at first) tip half of that bet, however large the bet.  You'd be surprised how often that dealer will forget!

Beyond that.

Politicians call it "a sense of entitlement".  Psychologists call the disorder, "a disassociation (from reality)".

Holy crap!  I've never even thought about tipping that much at once.

In OZ tipping at Casinos is totally banned to avoid scamming. As has been demonstrated on here casino tipping in the USA somewhat corrupts the play.

The dealers & table staff here get a reasonable salary. All p/a earnings in OZ $. New Starter $40k, Senior $65K, Av. $55k, Av.hours 39.3 p/w. They also get 4 weeks paid holidays, superannuation & paid sick days.

Today I was reading an on line comment from a Las Vegas dealer & his base rate was $7.50 p/h = $15k p/a +/- so to make $65k p/a he needs to pull about a $1 grand per week in tips or $200 per day per shift. His base rate only earns him $60 for 8 hours.

Tipping is not a NATIONAL PRACTICE here. Restaurants are about the main place I see it.

Over time, due to inflation, tipping in the USA in many service industries has led to a huge number of people on paupers base rates.

It makes it tough for many workers when the place where they work has a drop off in business (many have already gone to the wall & many more aren't doing so well).

Maybe, in part, it's why you tube talks/shows about 10 million plus USA people living in tents ?

Let's not forget the 62 million people in 23 million households that are on food stamps.

Like the double zero wheel, tipping (I hope) stays mainly in good 'ol USA.

Then again, likely, the casino was trying to put you on tilt to get some of their money back?

Like it's never a good idea to announce that you're leaving soon, or going across the street to the other casino.
