I am running tests with the method you described right here.
Although my tests aren't stopping with 6nrs, but rather I let them accumulate until 35, and I did not programmed a positive prog on the winning nr, the result is that 93-94% of runs will see a profit at some point in the game. That's good for a flat play!
I just found this Roulette45 strategy on the web. Could not find the whole book in PDF ( don't feel like paying 300Euros), but from what I understood from the few infos dripping out, the guy is doing just like you, but he's staying with one nr.
Is this what inspired you?

No but from turbo on old Vls forum but he didn’t bet like that .I tried to come up with somthing but did not spend to much time on it.

It looks like he waits for a repeat to occur (or more than one) and each time one does occur he tracks it. Once six spins have gone by with NO repeaters at all (six unique outcomes) he bets the single (or more) repeat numbers from the previous tracking for a limited amount of spins. If one hits, reset, if it doesn't progression.
