I have seen this on another forum (can't remember which one?)......A person can only view this site if they are REGISTERED! To be specific, they can 'see' the site itself but NOT read one single thread/post if not registered, I love the idea. I'm tired of looking at all the GOOFS (guests) catching a FREE RIDE of information but contributing nothing. Any thoughts on the subject?
Ken
Great idea
Hopefully, if Victor agrees, then it won't involve him in too much extra work.
He sure has a lot on at the moment.
Yeah, he is busy, I understand. I like this idea *a lot*. It sucks looking at the free loaders.....oops I'm sorry, the 'guests' ::)
Ken
I agree
For my take on this- I don't agree.
Guests become new members..........................then become great posters like yourself Ken.
Don't think it would give any "weight" to a potential new member who begins their
journey here as a viewing Guest, for them not to be able to sample the wares
so2speak, and flavour the aroma in this hollowed place.
Where I would agree, is that some 'juicy' content could be locked away, till they are a fully signed up member, maybe something like limit access to the FULL SYSTEMS section, and of course, other tools that exist within the site.
Limits could be set for the download section too.
But really, the initial access to this forum, should start out free, without registration and
there to do the sort of work that any good chef would seek- to wet one's apetite.
For most "Guests" (quote- free-loaders), to be here in the first instance, shows that they have done their homework.
They have already been introduced to the subject (U just don't end up here by accident),
and for this forum to grow, produce real debate on fresh thinking, new systems, trackers and
tools that we have not even thought of, - it needs new members/fellows.
When U view the stats (as I do) as to who's on line at any given time (past 5 minutes, bottom of the home page.)
It gives me great heart to see the number of Guests reading, and then U see- Guest- registering new account............................brilliant.
A Guest is a friend you have not met yet.

That's a good idea.
Let 'em look...but not at everything until Registered.
Need to entice them in.
Wouldn't want this excellent forum to become someone's private Gentlemen's club
where the members think they are above- newbie's joining, contributing and
having fun.
Apart from VLS, weren't we all newbie's at one stage in our forum life?
In the old vls Victors take on this was the same as chrisbis'. I raised the same question as MrJ cos I felt the same as him.
But I see the other side. I guess Victor still feels the same?

This might stop some getting a free ride, but if all you have to do to read posts is register then most people will probably just sign up and then not bother to contribute anything anyway. It's annoying, I agree, but what can you do? when the old VIP forum closed there were about 10,000 members but hardly anyone posted anything. I don't think it's a good idea to make people register before they can view posts, but limited access for non-members might be a good compromise.

Yes. that's why I always refer to
FELLOW GUESTS.
Registration or not, it is a living person at the other end of the screen. That's what matters.
Regards.
There is no such thing as a free ride, and everyone to a man pays their dues through life whether they know it or not. Therefore even those who would seem to unfairly gain from the hard work of others must be tolerated.
I believe all guests are worthy of carte blanche viewing. They will repay any and all benevolent contributors in ways unseen.
So be it!
I agree. And if you're going to discriminate, HOW do you choose who is "worthy"? plus it would make a lot of work for Victor - he would have to make a lot of changes to the forum software.
No such thing as a free ride? What about the guy who is a guest and never registers? They kick back and pick up the information, thats ok? I dont feel 'above' a newbie but I do feel 'above' a person who is NEVER gonna contribute.

Actually, it isn't that much work, but it's work that I don't consider worth doing:
locking the forum for people [attachimg=#].
I refer to a message I sent to a fellow friend regarding this:
QuoteYeah brother, an OPEN place of discussion for the free exchange of roulette information.
That's it!
No restrictions, no "elites".
Here we are all flat & the same...
Vic

Ken, my mate, information in this digital time and age is like a big river. There is always a surplus of water for all the residents. Nobody really takes anything, it is always there for the taking!
The beauty of publishing online is reaching as many as you can, even those you will never know, but it gives a warmth in your heart to know you've reached them.
When you publish feel ensured that those who will value your post the most will read it and cherish what you shared with the world.
Isn't our forum is a wonderful place? NO racism, no discriminations at all. All everyone have to do is to put the address in their browsers and have full access :)
I've been to those forums for which you can't view images, download anything, can't see links and basically are locked-down as a guest... you know what I do? HIT THE BACK BUTTON!
I'm glad we aren't like that around here [attachimg=#]
***nods head*** :xd: :D :)
Good points there Victor.
One of the reasons I like this forum so much.
Very open and friendly.
As a quest.
Look around and see what we do.
Roulette may or may not be for you.
You will find interesting posts from various members.
Covering a wide range of subjects.
Our main aim in this forum is to educate and inform.
Our main outlet for all this is Roulette.
A game with so many combination's.
Tools, and ideas are abound in this forum.
Lots of different ways to try and win.
As a guest, please be seated.
The food and wine. If you have any.

Some will like to keep to themselves.

As a guest...
You should be able to find someone you like.

If you like it here.
By all means...
Feel free to become a member.
And share your own thoughts.

Ohh, and on your way out...
Could you put the cat out.
Thank you for visiting.
I won't argue but it is analogy time. I think there is a difference between such sites like...here, other gambling sites, stock trading sites, investment sites etc. Those sites (financial) have something to do with POSSIBLY making money compared to other sites like....tv shows, magic etc.
I 100% promise you that non-registered members (guests) take hard earned info from 'members' here and use it for FINANCIAL gain. Do all of them do this? Of course not, I'm not saying that. I'll drop the subject, I only thought I would mention the idea.
Ken
In my humble opinion, since it is not a paid site, there should not be any sort of restriction upon guests. What is the guarantee of a registered member to contribute? Those who come here to see or learn ideas need not write back always. Forced membership will create nuisance only.
I think a registration is at least a start. I'm not saying they have to post 10 HG's.
Ken
You could limit the duration of their free viewing, drop a cookie with a timestamp, give them 3 minutes or more if your generous, then suggest they register to finish reading what thye started to, or count the pages they view limit it to 3 or 4.
Just a suggestion to satisfy everyone, they still get to see free content.
I think it would be mean spirited to block content from guests.
Speaking for myself, I write things here for everybody to read and that includes people who may never register.
Look at it from another angle. If this board starts to become some kind of elitist club, you may find people that already contribute may decide to stop posting because they feel they don't want to be part of a forum who does not belief in openly sharing their work.
I believe in openly sharing work......with members.
Ken
I agree with, MrJ. I think all the features of the forum should be available to members only and it is FREE to become a member. It only takes a moment of your time to get a lifetime of roulette information...and it's FREE! I don't see the problem with that. :P
Good point, its not like anybody has to pay to read something.
Ken
Hey guys....Its only my opinion, not a big deal.
Ken
Please leave the current format intact, however..
I believe a subscription based 'Members Only' section would cut out the riff raff.
An inner circle of 'elite' contributors is in everyone's best interest.
Certain members being more equal than others etc. :P
Call it the Law of Nature.
'Unnatural Selection'
As long as the forum's NEW inner sanctum houses REAL information.
Not the usual recycled HoGwash..
Victor, this is your sacred human responsibility.
Kindly donate any monies raised to Gamblers Anonymous.
And leave the rest of the forum intact for the freaks freeloaders.
