Title: ISSUES ARISING FROM SERVER SWITCH
Post by: esoito on Mar 08, 11:44 PM 2011
Please note any teething problems here so Victor has a list to work with:

1  Some quotes in posts have lost their formatting; others seem OK. (Bit odd, that!)

2  Download section missing

3  The clock is missing

Some posts are appearing without words in them in various threads.

Luckily I removed only about 3 or 4 wordless posts before I realised the problem was widespread...

So all check your pockets for the missing words, please.

Kindly do not remove them, but advice me to see what's going on.

I dislike this very much, darn it we had to switch in the first place, but without sponsors, that was our fate.

We ALL want to enjoy dedicated resources with terrific connection speed and no lags... but they do cost! Ads are not a choice since unless we CHEAT them (i.e. deliberatedly make click) they aren't worth for cents a day.

Anyway, here we are. My duty as Admin then being to make more in order to find us sponsors and the duty of the community is -well- having a % of you guys sponsoring!

Regards!

Hi Vic,
How is the tipping service coming along? Two reasons why i ask,

1) Its been a bit quite on THAT front recently ( I know you have been busy with the move and everything).

MORE IMPORTANTLY

2) If people could play the tipping service and win with it then more money for people to donate to this forum...
;)

Agreed. In part, that's what I mean with WORK HARDER...

...the other part I had in mind was for me to put community-supported software on (i.e. opt-in payment), but that's another story...  ;)

Thomas has advised elsewhere:

There is no numbers on Replies.
Or Messages.
There used to be.
But not any more.
It was one of the first things I clicked on.
Was Replies to posts.
Or read my messages.
That is if I had any.
And I could always tell I had messages.
Because it would say. I had 1 or two messages.

That's a Generous donation XX, very well done indeed.

SERVER SWITCH BACK ISSUES.
@VLS
Auto log-on seems to not be auto at the mo. No biggie I know, but there just the same.  :-X

Also, when selecting 'Reply' to a post, i had an error message......
again, a quick One-Two on the old Backwards-Forwards buttons soon corrected that mini one.

This next one is an 'Advisory'.

Under the newly installed Donation 'Column of Dollar' amounts, would U put a quick, short explanation, that the buttons take U straight to PayPal, since some donating members, may not know what that is, nor indeed have the means to use.

Maybe set up another well used/know E-wallet method of payment? (As well as PayPal), and show that as a link/option, after the $ Dollar button has been pressed.?

Cheers.

It appears, at least on my monitors, that the quote function is not displaying properly.

I've watched it for several days now and it's still not coming up correctly.

Just adding to the "bug" list for the new software/forum/server.

Absolutely wonderful dear R.

This sure bring in "cushion" to

A big THANK YOU for this. I am going to thank the other fellows to their personal email and find a way to compensate their generosity in due time; more likely in credits for roulette software or any other assistance I can provide. Yours is surely taking into account.

A quite grateful regards.

Victor Mate;

No need for additional compensation for my contribution.  Just having access to this great forum is compensation enough.

I'm glad you put the donation section on the left.  It makes it easy to donate and it reminds us to remember to help out every now and then.

Hi Victor,

Since the server switch, I am still having some problems.

It seems to be some sort of catching problem, for example when I make a post sometimes when I then save I lose the my post because I get a page cannot be displayed message.

So I end up having to redo the post from scratch, the same thing sometimes happens when I just click on a link to read a post, and then it could be a good 5 to 10 minutes before I can get into the forum again.

So now when I make a post I do a copy all just in case the same thing happens so I do not have to redo the post, this is very frustrating but I understand these things happen with a server move, and I'm just letting you know what is happening for me, but please understand I am not complaining.

Thanks

malcop

ok, when you get it, I need you to take a screenshot to learn the exact error as displayed to you.

To learn what type of error is and see what can be done.

Thanks for reporting.

@VLS

In the same manner as OTHERS have posted up before in this Topic,
there are quite a few Original posts *Missing* from the forum.

I found a few of the first few posts from various new members that are not available!

If U want more specifics, let me know here or PM.

Cheers Boss

The Forum pages keep slipping off to the right hand side of my screen?

Is this a problem unique to me, or has anyone else experienced it?

1  Could be a screen resolution issue your end. Worth checking.

2  And try an alternative browser to see if the problem is still there.

I always use FireFox.  Ctrl + and Ctrll - will change page resolutions on-the-fly.  Ctrl 0 (a zero) restores the default.

Thanks Max.
I tried that. (all of them too!)

It only happens when I am in the Forum.

Not with any other site i visit. Nor any other forum.

I still have it here now.

I'll monitor it.

cheers.

OK, let's face it: THERE HAS BEEN DATA CORRUPTION.

Missing posts are the proof.

I must do a clean reinstall again.

And more importantly: Must merge an old version of the database with current one to recoup missing posts.

But I'm not going to make it right away, let's give our place (and myself) some days of rest and working right.

Thanks for understanding.

Your poor guy -- as if you haven't already got enough on your plate.

We all need to leave you alone for a while.

I'm locking this thread for now.

Once you've done the reinstall and merge, I'll create another for any issues arising then.

Take your time.

Good luck with it...plenty to go wrong...
