Title: John Patrick -powerful money management!
Post by: iggiv on Mar 14, 12:57 PM 2011
Very interesting reading indeed. Check on amazon, maybe there is some info.

his powerful money management

some basics:
1) 10-20% of your session bankroll winning goal per session
2)  50% maximum stop loss of your session bankroll
4) if you get 4 losses in a row -- you quit the session
3) "up and pull" for EC bets. Start bigger than minimum bet, then "regress", then go up again. Very powerful feature. try it with your EC system. helps to survive some bad runs.

example on 5 bucks minimum table.

1st bet: 10
2nd -- 5
3rd-- 10
4th --15

try it. it helps.
if you lost first bet (but did not get to the stop-loss yet) you restart cycle from 10 bucks again.

example if you win 1st bet:
u get 10 bucks, you pull 5. now if you lose 5 on 2nd bet, you still in profit.  which means --
u won once, you lost once -- and you get a profit. if you lose 3rd bet , you lose only 5 bucks.
If you won  first 3 bets, but lost 4th -- you still in profit of 10 bucks.

it is not a holy grail of course, but it helps survive many bad runs and recover.

ah! you are right sogett i missed something there.
there are 16 combinations indeed, so that will be 7 out of 16 or 43% chance of losing.
7 out of 16 or 43% chance of winning.
2 out of 16 or 12.5% break-even.

but i am not sure why you add them up.

Other great thing mention by JP like session managament ...
Win 2 session out of 3 with a overall win goal ...

WW - you win the first two sessions end the day and go home happy
WLW - you win two session out of three end the day and go home happy
LWW - you win two session out of three end the day and go home happy
LLW - you took a small loss with out losing it all end the day and go home happy
LLL - you hit three loses in a row accept your bad tram and end the day and go home happy

The main idea is that two sessions overcome one loss - very cool ...

That's how it works flat betting the even chances, you need 2 wins to overcome 1 loss.

So why not end the session on 2 wins, or 1 loss, or 1 win & 1 loss for a break even?

DBL works well with good money management. 2-2 chops and 0 will kill it though.

a tweak to avoid/minimize the L.

dont bet on the 4th step(15) until you have won 2 of the last 3 bet.
