This is not a PROBLEM as such......

More an observation.

The World Clock/Time at the head of the page, is a little small to glance up and refer to.

No biggy.
Not even a tiny winy one really, just a "By Comparison"  :P

The "Preview" feature on the 'Recent Topic' section is not evident at the moment.

I mention it now, but it may have been one of those features that is 'Lost' in the Upgrade.  ???

There was also a Preview of the last 10 Posts feature?........possible relates to the same thing.

(By holding the Mouse over the post information, you able to read the first 3 lines of text within the Thread)

Something strange about attachment of images into a message?

Can You have a Look Victor?

[attachimg#] just produces this exact PHP code in the message, but when you use the-

Feature below the Message typing box is says I can not load the file as its not supported )(its a jpeg, which is supported)
then if I type in the code, it will attach?  Strange!

So one question would be, how do we control the placement of attachments, (within a post), and where to put the code?

The code, typed in on its own, would sit at the top of the message page, like a header?  :-[
Whereas the image appears only at the bottom of the page. Not in the place I asked for!

(by the way You have "Embarrassed Smiley" in the choices- twice  :-[   :-[ )

Also..................the align centre is not functioning.

No way, ophis this is a professional screen but the spell check in message section doesn't work. Some bug?
I tried to locate Victor as the owner of the forum but he is hidden. No name like victor on forum.
Cheers Hermes

This upgrade is to take advantage of a host of new features now available -- including being able to stop spammers before they get a foot through the door.
That's a very important feature because spambots are widespread, increasing in numbers, persistent and it's a damned, time-wasting nuisance to get rid of their effects.
So in the end it's to all our advantage to have this very necessary upgrade.

@Chris

- attachimg positioning still not in place.

- Check your sent ones at: link:://rouletteforum.cc/pm/?f=sent (link:://rouletteforum.cc/pm/?f=sent) Link on your left right below inbox.

- Allow some time, new features are still rusty because i must be careful when adding them. I do not want to make mistakes which can bring things down, so basically I'm adding bit by bit and leaving it in the same state until sure that I can add something more. It is a *LOT* easier this way rather than adding everything at once and then god knows what breaks what!!! This way you can pin-point easily in case of troubles: last addition is the clear culprit  :D

@mimoto

Besides, the new moderation features (not trivial given the recent amount of spam posts) there is also the security issue.

Keeping outdated versions of software in production/live systems is a #1 "No no", not because the product isn't capable of delivering, but outdated versions are for the most part unpatched and have holes.

Be certain no sane person who appreciated their computer's integrity will browse the web with -for instance- using Windows 98 and its internet explorer version... not because it isn't able of making a connection for browsing a site, but because it has more holes and exploits than you can recall. That is the silent ever-lasting war and for us to be on the safe side we must keep the forum's core upgraded.

Nothing. But sadly if we leave in place it means we would be exposed to unnecessary risks.

Why upgrade windows millennium or any of the Win9X branch when they are capable of processing data? Why upgrade to Word 2010 when you can still work with Word 95? or... Why upgrade from MST 1.0 if the roulette system you wish is coded on it?

As a proficient programmer you know the reason internally and intuitively.. don't you?  ;)
Title: Re: LIST HERE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE NEW FORUM UPDATE, PLEASE
Post by: VLS on Jun 25, 01:06 AM 2011
P.S: Currently "whitening" it so it looks a bit more like our old self.

Remember this is not our final look, just a needed intermission... our "core" upon which modifications occur.

OK, I did have a look to import the attachimg feature and the new forum's internal format is in fact showing differences from the one before and is creating some minor issues (at least minor than you could expect from a "version shift" upgrade like we had!)

I'm just needing a large cup of coffee instead of a small one

This is one of the mandatory features and it is switched over to the top of priorities. Attachments + downloads that is.  :)

Yes but didint know it was Core update and that old skin is not supported.

I did think its was just transfer to another (cheaper) server.

No Biggy Boss, just put this at the back of the to-do list, but necc all the same.

On the Topic Headers, it says "Author", but not WHO THE AUTHOR IS.

As I say, just another of those- I'll do it when I get a "Round-2-it"

(I used to have one of those- masquerading as a Coffee mug!)

Also Boss, can you add the color 2Grey" to the color options please. I used it a lot to show the Intensity of certain texts, and take your eye to other words/phrases.
I can still make it work by adding the code.
Hi! Victor

cheers bro. :-*

News In Briefs. [reveal]Nickers, Are On The Line, In Shock Announcement!![reveal]The Washing Line, that is! LoL[/reveal][/reveal]

Here, few items to consider:-
The Guest Title in the "Who's On Line?", section, are too bold. (Maybe Scale?)

The "Section on View" is not bold enough. The Viewing/Posting/Printing/Others Titles, are not the important issue here, but the section that people are visiting IS! (In My Humble Opinion)

(Note:- Again, my Humour is laid open for all to inspect, until the Reveal Function comes back to Forums shores!)

A very small one, but may lead to finding equal problems for other Members.
(they will have to check)

My Profile signature, as shown in the Profile Summary:- (See attachment)

Is not the same as my signature, as its shows in the Forum posts!  (See second attachment)

Very strange that one!!  :-[

I would like to ask if its possible to make "Toggle Mode" (editor when posting reply) with memory?

I mean if i will change settings from design mode to code mode then i would like to stay like that.

Now it is always design mode when posting a new replay.

The reason for my request is that this "design mode" is making a lot of problems under Opera 11.11.
Now I'm posting this under Chrome and it does work fine.... but anyway Opera is my main browser.

Also not really sure why spell checking is not working under Opera.

Hello dear Ophis, please try now.

I have edited the configuration in your profile under Look and Layout (link:://rouletteforum.cc/profile/?area=theme;u=504):

"Show WYSIWYG editor on post page."

It should default to standard now.

Hey Victor.

The Forum Time, seems to be "Crashing" into the User time. Also, the "Show..... & "Show..... are very small Texts to click/aim on for the users.

Have a look at this and tell me what U think. Just had a litte play with it.

Has this problem happened to anyone else?

I have posts missing from my post count.

I seem to remember I was fast approaching 2500 posts in forum, but today it only shows me just going over the 2000 mark.

Anyone else has the wrong count?
(its all numbers I know, and an academic indicator, but could also show that's there a larger problem within the forum, and that many people have posts actually missing, or, not being counted.)

Please, everyone, check you Posts count.

Title: Re: LIST HERE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE NEW FORUM UPDATE, PLEASE
Post by: chrisbis on Jul 20, 04:40 PM 2011
This is quite the most ridiculous situation I have ever found myself in.

A forum upgrade, that makes things worse.
And.
A site owner who is more interested in
1. Selling/Giving away the site to another owner.
2. Having new interest in another site, that just so happens to have been started up, with links from 'This' site, and one that 'Might' just 'Might' earn a few quid in the process.

Meanwhile, we are left here with this worthless bag of 'shite'.

Is this really progress?
I have to ask the question.

I mean....................NO SMILES AT ALL..................WHats going On!!

Chris, I feel your discomfort. But it will add to nothing to fix everything in here, only to have it installed at steve's servers later this week and then having to do it all over again...  :'(

Sorry x 3, or if you wish: sorry, sorry, sorry.

If you were an architech, that would be akin to hiring a workforce for fixing all building's internal walls just to have it demolished in 3 days.

I may have to add an extra sorry for resting, but today and tomorrow I'm in fact resting since there is plenty on my plate to do in the next few days to come, and just don't want to have to overnight and be in a rush to re-do it when the new (and long-term) install happens at Steve's server.

Can we show "Sorry" to the power 3 in here somehow?
is that a function that works?

(that's if we ever had it in the first place!!)
