It's one thing to sit at your computer and do the math for online casinos, but the hustle and bustle of the casino is much different. You don't want to keep track of a lot of calculations in your head and keep track with people bringing you drinks and being loud. So I'll tell you a really easy method I use.
For straight up numbers:
It pays 35:1. The payout determines how many chips you will have in a stack. Let suppose we use $105 to start.
Step 1: Divide the money into stacks of 35
Step 2: Take the minimum profit you want to win out the first stack. (Lets go with $4, the first stack becomes 31 chips)
Step 3: Play 1 chip on any amount of numbers until stack 1 is gone.
Step 4: Once stack one is gone, move to stack 2, but increase the bet per number by 1.
Every time you plow through a stack and move to the next stack, increase your bet on each number by 1.
Step 5: Win and reset all the stacks.
It doesn't matter if you play 1 number or 5 numbers, the difference is in how fast you plow through a stack.
To calculate the profit quickly at any given time, simply take the amount of chips left in the current stack you are playing and add the minimum profit you took out of stack 1 ($4 this time)

For playing a 17:1 spot
Play it the same way as 35:1, but use 17 chips instead.

Notes:
Suppose you want to start out with a bet of $2.
Simply move the first stack to the second stack and play $2 until both stacks are gone, then move to the 3rd stack of 35 in which you will start betting $3.
For starting out with a $3 bet, move stack 1 and 2 to stack 3 and play through all those using a $3 bet. (you get the idea)
- If you are feeling lucky, you can up your bet at any time, it just goes through the stack faster.
