How about this for a question........Can a person be a 'pro gambler' (Casino, table games) and be in the red year after year? Can that person still be considered a pro?
Ken
If hes in the red every year it is a hobby!
yes we can consider him as a pro...pro being in red
No.
Regards
Max
If he gets paid for his gambling, he surely is a pro as he makes his lifing from gambling also when losing. (Otherwise a lot of sports teams also couldn´t be called pros as they are losing most of the time)
Look at all the 'pro' golfers who constantly finish near the bottom.

I was inclined to think that you had to have gains to be a professional like Mad Max, but I looked up the word on dictionary.com. One option had you doing something for gain, but another definition simply said "following as a business an occupation ordinarily engaged in as a pastime: a professional golfer." Apparently, if this is your business, win or lose, that makes you a professional.
I think that when you start to blur this into a living, you end up a "professional bum".
