I'm looking at the the bankrolls people suggest they carry. Mr. J has an $18,000 bank, I saw another poster at VLS suggest having a $25,000 bank. More and more I'm thinking to make a decent profit you have to have a staggering amount on hand. Really?
I would think a lot of that expectation is based on what your "normal" bankroll actually is.
If you or I walk into the casino with $500, we would be way out of whack to expect to exit the casino with $50,000 when taking a nice $100 or $200 PROFIT would be acceptable, at least to me.
The same really can't be said if you walk in with $50,000. At that level you're "a player" and will expect to make a killing. Pulling a few thousand in profit will be almost a non-event for that level of play.
I've had days where I just jumped into a game with $75 in cash on me and was very happy to walk away with a $100 or $125! It was only $50 profit, but it was well worth the short time and effort to make it.
Can a person do that with a $50K bankroll? I think not and still be happy.
AD (just my take on it)
I think it depends on the reason for going to the casino in the first place, IE to have some fun, entertainment, meal and a few drinks with friends OR to try to make thousands of dollars. Myself I go in with with $400 bankroll and quit when I have made a $100 dollar profit, free meal, cheap drinks and a lot of laughs. Usually in for about 3 hours.

Hey! That works for me!

When I played often, my typical bankroll was only $1000-$2000. What you win is more limited by what you can get away with, without having countermeasures slapped on you.
