Title: Investigation part 1
Post by: ego on Dec 22, 02:33 AM 2012

-

This investigation is about how common or rare it is that one dice repeat one side twice and after that fall back to back.
The dice we deal with has eight sides.

(link:://i47.tinypic.com/2mcx9go.png)

To get the same situation using even money bets we clustering them into three.
That give as a total of eight patterns with the same probability as the dice above.

1. RRR
2. BBB
3. RBR
4. BRB
5. RRB
6. BBR
7. RBB
8. BRR

Next we are going to observe how the tram of hits flow between does sequential repeats.
Pretty easy and effective bet selection.

EGO - I'm confused with your dice ? All I see is a 4 sided pyramid & a base = 5 surfaces.
Are these dice actually on sale?

Are the dice weighted so that they always land on their bases?

Where do you read the valid number then? On a normal cube dice any 2 of the opposite sides add up to 7. ie 1 + 6, 2 + 5 & 3 + 4. The valid number is the one at the top, as we all know.

The numbers shown are x1 = 1, 4, 7 & 8. 7 may also be unsighted on the rhs dice ?  x2 = 2, 3 & 6.
So nothing adds up equally?

We are a long way off April Fools day, although "The End Of Days" has just passed ?

Agree on the 8 patterns, although this has been discussed on other threads but minus the dice aspect.

Well in our minds a dice could have any amount of sides and we can divide probability into any numbers we would like to deal with.
There is nothing prevent us from doing just that.

Ego,

Perhaps this would work better with these dice!

To clarify, those actually are fair, 8-sided die.  The picture isn't quite clear, but the dice are actual non-biased specialty dice that are fairly available in game shops and the like.  Don't be confused by the presence of the 8-sided die, although I'm not sure what the point Ego is trying to make.  He does have a valid point though: RRR is a 1-in-8 chance (1/2^3)  just as is hitting a 2 or a 6 on his special dice.  How he is applying it, I have no clue, but he is right about the dice.  Just wish I knew what his point actually is.

As i state in the first post, if you get one repeat, then you just wait for the repeats to end.
Then you observe for how long it takes for the same side of the dice to repeat again.

You get very long positive tram hitting that way.
Where that repeat event does not fall back to back, pretty rare.

The question is if you would ride and capitalize on all does hits or just play to win once.

I bet against HHH as soon as any other of the 7 possible patterns show up.
It is a dice with 8 sides.

Yes, I understand the goofy dice!

I was trying to see what you were doing in relation to roulette.  You've explained it perfectly!

Thanks.

My conclusion is that is common.

I get better results playing to win once, disregarding colors - a dice with 4 sides. However nothing amazing. We've looked into it before.

I have also been experimenting with four side dice.
And i am not sure A and me do the things in the same way.
