Resorts world queens

Live dealer is illegal in my state

Up until recently

The state is allowing for 7 full blown casinos

There was a loophole in the law so resorts world was able to add airball. They will probably not be one of the 7 which is saddening

The minimum bets are outrageous. The european airball is 20 minimum

A lot of rich looking food.

Reminds me of my home brewing

I was obsessed. Got it to a professional scientific level. Made a mash tun and boiler.

I could brew real ale of a high quality.

The down side is 40 pints of strong 5.5% beer to get rid of every week :o

My Guru was Dave Line and his "big book of brewing" and " Brewing beers like those you buy"

I nearly nailed Guinness from that last book.

He died from liver failure at 48

As an interesting footnote, when I read the history of Brewing (mash temperature is 64-65C btw)

the book mentioned that a mist appears on the surface just at that temperature.

Before thermometers, thats how they got the mash temperature right.

One night, I broke my thermometer, and completed the brew using this ancient method

All you will get from a kit is disappointment.

You have to mash with real malted barley and boil with real hops to get near to it.

Its a big commitment

I wasnt producing decent stuff for years.

I did kits and my first real mash wasnt brilliant, but was far better than any kit

There are dry kits with malt extract and hops in a bag. These arnt so bad, but steer clear from wet syrup kits in a tin can.

If they are asking you to add sugar, its gonna taste like piss

I remember my dad brewing his own beer back in the late 60's early 70's.

Geordie Homebrew kit was basically a big bag of hops that he boiled up on the cooker for hours - the smell flooded the house and was great.

The plastic bucket we used for fermentation lived in the airing cupboard and when it was ready we bottled it in the bathroom with old cider bottles lines up the bath and me in charge of the syphoning tube - one level teaspoon of sugar in each bottle and then filled up with beer.

The result was a very strong dark ale that tasted superb - I started young as I was only in my early teens at the time!

Definitely avoid the syrup concentrate now though.

Title: Re: Food Blog
Post by: Nick-the-Greek on Jul 11, 09:16 AM 2016
All Geordie do now are the liquid kits and you have to add about 1kg of sugar!

Anyone sell the bags of hops anymore as I'd love to get a brew on the go even as a one off for old times sake?

The only problem is that it always makes me hungry. Also food like meat and seafood is really expensive here in the UK compared to the U.S. and Oz. It's cheaper for me to go and have a nice steak in the Casino than it would be to buy all the ingredients and cook it at home.

It's unrealistic to grow all food yourself, but everyone should have at least a few plants. I have a few fruit trees and every year they grow so much i need to give most of it away. There are lots of pest resistant vegetables you can grow even if youre lazy. Im more of a set and forget gardener.

For sure to grow all your food is an immense commitment.
It is actually surprising how little time a garden requires, and so much fun.  And hour per day or per week, accordingly with one's passion or garden size.

Fruit trees and nut trees are a must in a backyard,  I agree.  Will try peach and nectarines soon.  Hardiness is key, tough to find a suitable sort for Canada.

Seedless grapes are just amazing, too, and easy to grow!

Apricots are great, very productive. But the birds will destroy them very quickly. Just net properly before they ripen.

Americans for sure.  There are lots of them but they're not edible...

I prefer plums to abricots.  Garden side: ground cherries and watermelon, that's my stuff.

Ever tried cutting grass or hay with a scythe?  This is a great tool and a  very " zen" hobby.

I used to drink a lot of aspartame but have changed largely to sucralose.   Aspartame doesn't make you fat, it just makes you pee a lot.  I devour sugar free Monsters and Mio Drops, but  I'm USDA certified lean.  I avoid corn syrup, sugar and hormone fed meat.

aspartame is a terrible chemical

found in most diet products

We're all full of contradictions for sure.

I grow organic food, strongly believe in it, but I'd eat so unhealthy if it wasn't of my girlfriend cooking good food.  I can't help it: footlong hotdogs are the best!

I used to drink a two liter of Diet Coke a day, but it didn't cause me to gain weight.  On the contrary, it helped keep me from getting fat.  But again, it will make you pee like a race horse.  LOL.

Processed meats however scare the hell out of me!  No hotdogs!

We have sugar maples up here, and it's one of the best ( taste and health) sugar source there is in the world.
Ever tried it?

I love maple syrup, but I quit eating pancakes and such when I was in my early 20s because it made me feel terrible.  Now it's a once every three months thing if that.

On pancakes, it's a classic.  In coffee, yogourt, salad dressings...

Fanciness has no limit.

KFC was good when I was a kid.  As an adult it's disgusting stuff that makes people feel like hell.
