Title: A quote
Post by: Priyanka on Jul 20, 03:35 PM 2016
Once my beloved twocatsam quoted "I don't want to know what's going to happen in the next million spins; I want to know what's going to happen in the next ten."

It keeps ringing in the back of my mind when someone says what matters is the next spin. Can you predict it? I have great respect for this man, and I don't know whether he intentionally said next ten or unintentionally but that has gone deep rooted into me that you don't have to win the next spin, focus can dilute to predicting few of next ten correct.

Some one said read the books.  Look at history of the game. I read quite a few books. No one seems to tell me focus on next spin. Brett Morton says look at next three. Tamino's beloved author says win 2 out of 3.

Then why is the obsession towards can one change the odds of next spin. Why is so much importance around can one predict the next spin.

Well too much vodka I guess.

I have many a time beaten roulette after drinking vodka, alas I sober up and forget how I beat the game... Which brings me to my offer of "Drunken Roulette which is surely Random" by Tomla:  $999 today 99 cents a week or two from now.

well....the pit boss doesnt say "this guy has improved the accuracy of his bet selection, we need to pay him 40:1"

We all get 35:1

This was a recent revelation to me. My stats show very little predictability when it comes to the next spin - yet that's what I always aimed for in the past. Random Thoughts taught us multiple spin events can break the equally likely scenario governing single spin bets, as well as allow multiple bets to be stitched together for increased payout odds over the course of the event.

How can it be shown/demonstrated that betting over the course of, say, 3 spins is better than just the next spin?

It can only be demonstrated based on the aspects of your betting or the betting mechanism and what's your definition of "better"

Let's say you are targeting to bet on a line.  The expectancy of hitting a chosen line once in 3 spins is better than that of your selected line hitting next spin.   It has to be taken with a pinch of salt as the  expectancy reflects proportionately in the payouts. It is a square game.

Well, it's not straightforward then? So cannot blame it on vodka...
