Before I read anything about VdW.....this is how I was playing the EC's for around 6-12 months with a good degree of success....who knew! :D
Attatchment 1 shows the EC's appearing as couplets.
If the couplet BR is the furthest back, then either the first result of the couplet has to be R or the second result of the couplet has to be B.
If the OO is the furthest back, then either the first or the second result of the couplet has to be E.
If there are two joint missing couplets like the HL and LL, then the second result of the appearing couplet HAS to be H.
Attatchment 2 shows all this in action.
It was certainly a step in the right direction.

Flatbet or progression.
One other little trick I am going to share with you guys.
The OE is missing as the furthest back where I circled in attatchment 1 below which means either E has to appear as the first part of the couplet or O has to appear as the second part of the couplet.
Now instead of starting from there, use a countback and check if an AP has already formed or not!
A bullet was dodged on position 5 with the E and because I am hoping for an E on position 7 to complete a 147 AP, I can ignore the mutual bet situation. Play around with it, you may be surprised what you can come up with.

I'm a bit late to this party. Could you please explain a little more? Furthest back from what? And what do you mean by 147AP...I'm sure I'll catch on, but a little more clarity would be helpful.
