Mexico -- they will get eliminated in the next round (look at who their opponents are !).
France -- they have the talent, but Didier Deschamps has no clue how to get the best out of such a talented group of players (plus Hugo Lloris is a liability in goal).

I have watched each game as a neutral, but it was very hard not to root for Croatia in the final. France has a very strong team, but the Croatian team was the real fighter. They deserved to win.
Without the own goal and the penalty, it could have ended differently.

if you have modest to little experience in footbal, you wouldn't write this.

France's tactics are extremly efficient. croatia was suffering in the final with ball's conclusions! besides that croatia had to play extra times in last 3 games..so somweher they had a poblem in offensive
I don't completely agree with you roulettebeater, of course on paper, tactically and technical qualities of France is superior than Croatia. But sometimes willpower, teamwork combined can defeat stronger opponents.
Look at Iceland during the qualifications, beaten the Netherlands twice.
Croatia didn't deserve the penalty against them and the griezmanns dive for the freekick. If that didn't happen we might have seen a draw going into extra time and penalties. Croatia would have had much more of a a chance. But then hey, the ref was from Argentina, and what happened between the match Croatia vs Argentina?

I think there are some other factors influencing the game except skills. Just like in roulette unbelievable things happen. A strong team may lose to a weaker one for some weird reasons. Or for no reasons at all. Out of blue just bad luck.
