Police shouldn’t even be allowed to poke their head in my personal belongings or stop me. They are nothing special. Society granted them such privileges.
Know your rights. Remain silent. Give them no information. Ask if you can leave. Record them with your phone if needed.

You could ask them If you are detained ? if not detained, then you are free to go and you don't need to say anything to them and always remember here in the UK at least, you don't need to provide them with your details if you are not going to be arrested.
