One of the things I like most about this forum is that we're from all over the world. I enjoy interacting with people from places like the UK, Australia, South Africa, Russia, Portugal, Canada, etc...
I think it would be nice to know where you are from.
Why don't we log on and tell others on the forum where we live?
I guess I'll start.
I'm from the USA. To me that's kind of boring, but to others it might shed some light on how to interpret some of the things I write.
I also want to say that many of you apologize for your bad English. No need. Most of you can make yourself understood perfectly. And comunication is the name of the game. As a native English speaker, I can understand all but those who just use a translator program. Those make it very difficult to understand you. I'm sure for those of you to whom English is a 2nd or even 3rd language, it is harder to understand those whose English isn't so good. That's to be expected. Patience is a virtue because we want to understand what you're saying. It could be the most important thing posted on the forum and we don't want to miss it.
Cheers to all,
George

Oh, I forgot to say that I live in Tucson, Arizona and it was a mere 109 degrees F. on my way home from work today. The best thing about is that it's a dry heat. But like Johnny Carson once responded on the Tonight Show when someone said mentioned that even though it was hot it was a dry heat and he said, "So is a nuclear meltdown, but it's still hot as #&!!"

GLC & other USA residents - Just a question on the predominant zero & dbl. zero roulette wheel in use there?
How is it that U. S. casinos have been able to run 2 green goblins, when almost everywhere else in the world runs a single zero wheel?
Could it be that the majority of players are/have been tourists/casual recreational visitors?
Their knowledge of the game odds would be basic at best so the U. S. casinos have been able to
hoodwink the players and so cream off even more profit?
Across the border in Canada a forum poster recently mentioned all wheels there were single zero.
I'm here in Sydney OZ, the land of the kangaroo. It's mid winter (Sthn.Hem.) here & some of that heat you have would be welcome. Temps. abt. 0c - 15c or 32f - 60f. OZ has a wide climate band from the Tropical North to the cold far south of Tasmania. The solistice came last week so summer is on its way for us & winter for you Northern folk but months to go yet.
The only roulette wheels I've seen in casinos here are single zero type.
The other thing that perplexes me with Governments everywhere is the restrictions they place on on line betting? I have an account with a betting provider. This account allows me to bet on line on many major international and local sporting events. Things like NBA, NFL, Baseball, inter. tennis, soccer, motor racing, OZ football codes & many more. Their casino link is blocked for OZ users?
They also run odds during game play. For some reason they prevent an on line bet on this but allow a bet via a phone call. That's one I can't figure out?
The USA is even more restrictive? Virtually all on line betting to other countries is locked out as many U.S. posters here have so often mentioned?
For a country that supposedly promotes personal freedom & free enterprise it sure has a lot of locked doors?
The sleeping income giant appears to be slowly emerging as some States ease restrictions on new casinos (as reported on a news thread here or on VLS?) to boost their tax income post GFC.
Agree GLC on translators. Translating words is one thing but making sense of the meaning is another?
Does anybody know if there is a translation program that ALSO corrects things for grammar in both language directions?
Hey all,
I'm from Zeewolde, The Netherlands
To everybody - Just a couple of suggestions to add to your info. of where you live.
It would be good to get your info. on what you have available with B & M & on line casinos?
What restrictions you have?
Mostly in OZ there is only one casino in each capital city plus a few spread out in main tourist areas.
If driving it takes a day or more of travel to get to most of them.
Also your time zone would be of interest too. In Sydney OZ the winter time difference
is GMT +9 hours. In summer & daylight saving the difference goes to GMT +11hours (us 1 hr fwd you 1 hr back) what it means is that Wimbledon tennis on at 3pm London is seen at midnight & into the next day here. NBA basketball USA (season now over, GO HEAT) often starts at 7pm U S Eastern time which equals 11am the next day here.
Late afternoon here is early am in Europe & USA. So while I'm posting most of you guys are asleep & vice versa.
It's still amazing some people maintain the world is flat?

This is a philosophical question that depends on the answer to the question, "Who am I"?. Very challenging to answer in conventional terms. The name i use in everyday personal communication offline is Still Christ!...with an exclamation mark. So depending on your point of view, i live 12 feet off the ground in a treehouse, in proverbial "Paradise", or somehow (impossibly) both. I speak to people in American/US English quite well, and not at all in any other language. Global location is northwest U.S.

Just kidding, Still.
Not kidding about visiting Portugal, AJ. I may never get there because of the price of over-seas airfares, but if we ever find what we're looking for on this forum, the price of airfares won't matter.

I live so far north, maybe beyond north for ST.Claus. Nights now are short (Sun 24/7), feel pity for my Muslim friends her, Ramadans in a Nordic country, the latitude is hard in other places. Just check what's 66 degree north is in all other places , or even 56 which is far south here.

Some of it was enjoyable and some of it was a little over the top. The best part was the lighting of the torch.

You're right about that sun being too small, but what about the distance?
They reckon if you put a basketball on the ground and roll out a roll of toilet paper all the way, then put a pea at the other end you'll have the scale of size and distance between sun and earth just about right!
Just saw this thread now.
Really interesting seeing were everyone is from.
I live in Holland at the moment but was born in Canada. Dad was a fighter pilot and we moved around a lot. From Wichita Falls to Leeuwarden.
Lived in Washington DC the longest.
I am fortunate to work as a lifeguard and travel during the winter for a few months.
Hello! :)
I was born in Belarus. Now living in Ireland.
AMK, You should go visit Flatino in Croatia. You could work as a Life Guard on his beach during the day and go with him to the casinos at night.

Does it matter what type of toiletpaper ?
Because you have small rols and big rolls
What ever distance to Mars, I do not like the casinos there. The zero is red, and all other numbers are as most the players small and green. "42 green hit".

Well, as the story goes, some kids got their parents' credit card and ran up quite a bit of debt on a poker site. Parents called their congressperson, congress (with George W Bush's) signature ratified the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act of 2006.

As long as you are on US soil you can't legally play on gambling sites. Moreover the banks can confiscate your winnings if it is found to be online gambling related.
