Progression bets are nothing more than different size bets on different spins. You could get lucky and win big, or unlucky and lose even more.

I offer this strategy for EC bets.  You will need a 160 unit bankroll.  It sounds kind of ridiculous, but it just might work.  Let us see

You start off flat betting 1 unit

You keep flat betting until your balance is -5 units.  Once at -5,

You will try to get it all back with a one time bet of 5 units.  If you win, begin again.  If you lose,

You are down -10, now flat bet with 2 units until your balance reaches 0 or -20.  If -20,

You will try to get it all back with a one time bet of 20 units. If you win, begin again.  If you lose,

You are now down -40, now flat bet with 8 units until your balance reaches 0 or -80.  If -80,

You will try to get it all back with a one time bet of 80 units.  If you win, begin again.  If you lose -- ALL DONE

Whenever your balance is 0, you flat bet with 1 unit.
You only go for the "homerun" attempt when your overall balance is at -5  -20 or -80.
The rest of the time you flat bet with the amounts I gave.

We should now test her out

Keel, how about trying to get even with a higher-paying location?

It isn't far-fetched to get paid at 1 to 2 (Dozens/Columns) or even some attempts at 1 to 5 (Double-street).

I relate this to the "Production & Recovery" combo at:

I do like a well-crafted P&R. Thanks for sharing yours.

Nobody jumped at this.  Somebody should do a big test with a computer program.  I am interested in the results.  Read the rules carefully, I think it has merit.

ati

It looks similar to the "lifetime progression", which I tested and turned out to be a loser.
The problem with this method is, you might lose slower, but you would barely make any profit. Once you lose 160 units, how much time would it take to get back to even? So much that you would lose another 160 while grinding up I think.
One change has to be added, you are flat betting 1 unit, until you reach -5 units form the previous high. And that should be always the target. Targeting 0 would lead nowhere.

Done, although you didn't specify any bet selection so I have just run it betting for RED all the time. No zero spins faired better than European spins. The text file contains a list of bets and a running bankroll as usual.
There's only one way forward, follow random, don't fight with it!

Ignore a thread/topic that mentions 'stop loss', 'virtual loss' and also when a list is provided of a progression, mechanical does NOT work!

Thanks for a quick response and the work you put in.  Didn't work out so well.  Back to the deep recess of the mind I guess.

Thanks for the thanks, doesn't happen often enough.

Isn't it true how something "should" work in theory and doesn't quite turn out as we expect it, right? This was fascinating, thanks for the original post. Back to the drawing board, I guess!
