I've been a Mod & know you cannot please everyone all of the time, but ppl knowing why it was deleted should (at least in my book) help

As off topic discussions on Ignatus' thread SOUL GROUP NUMBERS  (SGN) is "VERBOTEN" (German for forbidden) I hope I may post a reply here.

As with a many words these days certain people/groups/MODS "hi jack" their original meanings & deem them unacceptable ?

Negro & Black are no no's but African America (AA) seems to be acceptable ? Just now looking on Wiki, Negro has a long historical back ground going back to 1442 (some 572 years ago, before the USA & before the slave trade) & used by the Spanish & Portuguese. Even Martin Luthur King used Negro in his 1963 speech.

In the SGN thread reference was made (OFF TOPIC TOO, PLEASE NOTE MODS) to James Brown ? I'll bet that that reference flew over many a posters heads ?

Then when I added a post (yes, heaven forbid also OFF TOPIC) with a factual event = 1992 action movie Passenger 57 & in it the star, Wesley Snipes (with dark skin pigmentation & I hope that's acceptable to one & all ?) in 1 of the scenes where after he "wastes" a few bad guys he then states "always bet on BLACK". Whenever I see a re run of the Passenger 57 movie the BET BLACK thingo always cracks me up, as I always align it with countless betting discussions on the forums.

I feel that using the words BLACK, NEGRO, AFRO AMERICAN are all valid as long as they are not used in a derogatory way.

I feel that Wesley Snipes movie line has validated my recently deleted SGN post ?

Besides it's not all one way traffic. How about many African Americans now using derogatory terms for caucasians such as "HONKY" "SPOOK" " GHOST" (Whites).
Check out the lyrics in the BROTHER LOUIE song by Hot Chocolate where the AA family is trying to deal with "SPOOK LOU" hooking up with the daughter.
Please note they sing ..."she was BLACK & he was WHITE"... They don't sing .. "she was African American & he was Caucasian"... sort of doesn't flow, yes ?

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS (veiled censorship) is an ever increasing scourge in our world of modern communication (PLEASE TAKE NOTE RELEVANT MODS).
Even here in OZ , with little kids = under 5 years old, at some child care centres they've banned Santa Claus & Christmas + Easter as the "managers" have deemed that NON CHRISTIAN background people MIGHT be offended ? Interviews with a few Muslim mums have publicly stated that they don't have a problem with Santa etc at all & the deeming is a "riddle" to them also ?
(MIGHT BE OFFENDED BUT EVEN THOUGH NO ONE WAS OFFENDED, CHANGE THE RULES ANYWAY ?)

Would you play/listen to the 1912 song - When Irish Eyes are Smiling - these days ? With a line in the song ..."when Irish hearts are happy, all the worlds seems bright & GAY" ?  Probably not for most ? As Gay (= joyful mood) has been "HI JACKED" by the NON heterosexual community. Ditto for FAGGOT (very old term for bundles of sticks picked up by poorer people in woods & forrests to burn in their home fire).

Last but not least let us all NOT TAKE LIFE TOO SERIOUSLY.               Amen.

IG - Re: The Scottish referendum. Could it have anything to do with a number of voters turning up to vote only to find that they'd already "VOTED"  when in fact they actually hadn't ?
