Odds and payouts are different things. If either the odds or payouts don't change, then the result is the same - eventual loss.

Does it matter knowing the average amount of events in a baccarat shoe? Anyway to take advantage of it?

By events, I mean 3 events in every shoe:

1) Chops or singles. p-b-p-b

2) Doubles, p-p-b-b-p-p-b-b

3) streaks (3 or more in a row), p-p-p-b-b-b-b-b-p-p-p-p-b-b-b

Can this help us or not really?

It can add order to how you play the game.  In the long run we never know if a pattern will continue or switch as soon as we start betting for it.  What has happened in the recent past is under no obligation to continue long enough for you to take advantage of it.  And if you decide that it's about to change from streaking to chopping, it doesn't have to, so no help going that direction.

Still, I prefer to play for patterns to continue.  Whereas Brett Morton prefers to play for an event to end, and he brags about winning 4 out of 5 trips to the casino.  Oh well, to each his own.

I've been having luck lately playing a straight up number.  Pick any number you like.  Even zero is good.  I buy-in for 100 chips.  I bet 1 chip on my number each spin.  Anytime I hit and am above 100 chips, I play 2 chips on my number until I hit again or I get back down to 100 chips.  Then I drop back to 1 chip until I hit and have more than 100 chips.

I shoot for +100 or -100.  A lot of the time I don't reach +100 nor do I lose 100.  I just hover back and forth between the win target and the stop loss till my playing time is up.  I've been lucky enough to still be a winner after 10 trips to the casino playing this way.  That represents about 15 hours of play.  If your number gets hot, you can rack up some pretty impressive wins.  Once my number didn't hit at all.  I'm hoping that's pretty rare, but to be expected.  On the other hand, a few times I've jumped to over +100 within the first half hour.  It's pretty hard to leave after only 30 minutes, but it's also good discipline.

At a quarter per chip, 100 chips is only $25 so fairly minimal investment for an hour or so of entertainment.  After 15 hours I'm sill up so no investment at all so far.

I'm not touting this as any special way to play, but it is pretty relaxing and doesn't take a lot of concentration to play an error free game.

In my case it doesn't matter.  I'm both!

Thanks for the reply GLC.

Do you have any one baccarat method you prefer over another? Do you like Dutchy's?

Love to hear what you think...

Thanks.
