It works, very good site to use for testing.  Also pretty good site to play on once you get some Bitcoins.  If in US it is much easier than other countries, but it is getting easier in most countries now.  I used an exchange to get mine the first time.  Haven't used it in a while and dont have the address anymore, google bitcoin exchange, find a reputable one, register and get verified, pretty easy after that.
