You can use series of two versus series of four using following playing model with math and probability calculations.
No need to have math skills i have the charts to follow and understand the strength behind variance.

Series of two has the value of 1
Series of three has the value of 0
Series of four has the value of 1

There you have a 50/50 situation based upon Marigny De Grilleau methodology
Here you can see the Z-Score for measuring the strength behind the imbalance or variance.
