Victor has suggested I post this latest Idea of mine up for General Discussion and Debate.

Chaps/Gals..............we need feedback before it could be implemented.

The Idea is to introduce a new feature, to the Forum, within a message/post facility.

It would enable Us all to correctly post a Matrix of a chosen width or even, a Matrix with a chosen heading.

He's a copy of my PM sent to Victor the other day.
>>>>>>>>

Morning.

Its my latest.
Called Matrix

The feature would be well used to illustrate Matrix stuff, by quite a few members,
and maybe also encourage others ideas to flow.
The [ ] [ ] code could be as such:-

[matrix=7][/matrix]

Or

[Matrix=,]7[/matrix]

Not sure which is better- U'll tell me!!

U need know the width, the input value attachments function (,) tho that could actually just be down to the number of inputs made by the user/member.
Maybe we just set the width eh thinking about it?

I know U'll sort it in minutes!! lol.

Unlike the 'table' function, we will not need the grey header bar for the first line....... but if stuff comes along, that might need a fixed header input, then U could enter in the Matrix function.

I'll give U an example.

Say U had a Matrix header code that U were going to bet AGAINST on each column as U went along the row of the Matrix, something like 2 3 1 1 3 2 , which is a unique set of Dozen results, that's reflective in formation.
The Matrix is set at this 6 column wide formate, and this code 2 3 1 1 3 2 is inputted at the top of the Matrix, to be the REFERENCE POINT, on which all the others bets are set against.

The game, is to bet that the Matrix, will not ever (or unlikely ever) see this exact Reflection effect of results again.

So, in my pigeon coding language, I would have this style of matrix function like this:-

[Matrix=,2,3,1,1,3,2,][/Matrix]

The use of a fixed number of header 'code' for the matrix itself, would set out the Matrix width automatically, because u have put 6 numbers, and the value will be entered into the matrix, by the use of a comma, just like we do currently for a table.

Actually, now thinging about this, maybe the whole Matrix width of columns, could be set this way, and for a standard Matrix, 5 numbers wide, U would have this function:-

[Matrix=,0,0,0,0,0][/Matrix]

So it would be a matrix, 5 columns wide, with a header of Zero's to start if off, or with no numbers in the matrix header at all- let U decide that one.

A 'code' matrix, no matter what the code, would therefore look like this:-

[Matrix=,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9][/Matrix]

And this would produce, a never ending Matrix Rows
(should the player need to show lots of results),
that is 9 Columns wide, and with a heading in the first row of:-

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

And hopefully, everyone can combine this feature with the Reveal feature, to keep post pages shortened, and tidier.
I notice a lot of posters using the Reveal function now- thanks forum.

Tell me what U think Boys and Girls.

I noticed the Forum work done on Matrix's, is getting more and more elaborate, so it seems to me,
that having the ability of quickly, universally, and consistently making a Matrix in the forum, was more a necessity that just a bit of a gadget..

Please debate.

Chris.

VLS

Thanks for the re-sending at proper section Chris.

Ok, now up for the debate.

If I get the purpose of your matrix feature right, you need to define two things:

A) Width, Height

B) Stream of values

So basically you want something like:

[matrix=6x6]123123123123123[/matrix]

Where:

6x6 = width x height

123123123123123 = values to be parsed

Is this right? Satisfactory enough?

Thank you!

Well it would be if I knew what the 123123123123123
would produce in actuality?

This is a sort of Matrix that might be okay-
[matrix6x6=,][/matrix]
[reveal][attachimg=#1][/reveal]

Then one with a heading 'code' in it-
[matrix6x6=,2,3,1,1,3,2][/matrix]
[reveal][attachimg=#2][/reveal]

Then this one with the numbers starting to go in-
[matrix6x6=,2,3,1,1,3,2]1,1,2,2,1,1,3,3[/matrix]
[reveal][attachimg=#3][/reveal]

Does this give U more of an idea Victor.

What do Atlantis, Buffolowizard, Twisteruk and Johnlegend think?

ScoobyDoo

Hi,

Well I think you should be able to choose the width of your matrix starting at 2 wide and going up to 7 wide.

The length of the matrix should be able to be chosen but it should also be able to be changed to indefinate so it can go on much longer if needed.

Just my thinking on it.

Scooby Doo

chrisbis

Thanx Scooby.

Nice logical thinking.  :thumbsup:

I agree on fixed length, and infinite length too.

I'm sure Victor can give us both to play with.

Also it would be good to have the option to bet against. Matrix_Turbo_v02 seems to be betting FOR trips to form.

OKie, as I have the coding IDE open to start with coding this, I would like to ask if you guys are going to need me to add a column for COMMENTS on current matrix row?

Thank you!

Yes, cracking idea for the comments Column.

Ordinarily, as in the "Table" function- comments can sometimes distort the shape and 'Readability' of the layout.

Can I put controls on that, say like a maximum number of characters in the comments line, so word wrap, and 'Bleed' over does not occur?

Can we have the Top 'Code' line stand out somehow?

Either by Boldness, or Colour, or Both (Automatically?)

If Matrix are to be a set Height- can we have a 'Link' facility to join several sets together? Or, a 'Infinite' function to be inserted into the code, that allows for a never-ending Matrix height?

Not sure If I can think of 'owt else Victor!

Cheers.

VLS

Okie chris, basic matrix code developed:

[matrix=7]1234567123456712345671234567[/matrix]

outputs:

[matrix=7]1234567123456712345671234567[/matrix]

And

[matrix=3]1234567123456712345671234567[/matrix]

Outputs:

[matrix=3]1234567123456712345671234567[/matrix]

Okie I'm adding features little by little as to not making any "poo poo" filter to the final code.

Next: bold header.

Catch with you later!
