Branding agreement franchised to Morris Mohawk expires end 2011

It has been reported this week that a major
online gambling brand in the US market, Bodog, will cease its US operations from the end of this (2011) year. They will apparently allow the current branding agreement, franchised to operator the Morris Mohawk Gaming group by Bodog Brand for use in North America, to expire.

Prior to this, UK Gambling Commission remote gaming license was granted to the UK operators using the Bodog brand.

In its statement on the new developments, the company specified: “Following recent news that Bodog UK has been granted a gambling license by the UK Gambling Commission, we are pleased to announce further developments to the Bodog brand going forward.”

"As highlighted last week, Bodog UK’s CEO, Patrik Selin believes the trust and credibility that having a UK licence brings to the brand will benefit customers and allow him to attract the best talent in the industry to work with him.

"However, in order to ensure the brand’s expansion is not affected by negative perceptions, both in the UK and elsewhere in emerging markets such as Asia, where Bodog88 is already successful, a decision has been made to withdraw the Bodog brand from the US market at the end of 2011.

"As a result, the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group’s (MMGG) brand licensing agreement will be allowed to expire on 31 December, following which US residents will no longer be able to access bodog.
eu or any other Bodog branded website.

"We understand that MMGG will launch under its own brand in 2012, licensed by the
Kahnawake Gaming Commission. All Bodog.eu clients’ funds will remain safe and they will have the option to switch to a new MMGG brand should they wish but MMGG confirms it’s business as usual."

That really sucks! It's getting harder every day for Americans to find reputable online casinos.

I emailed Bodog about the change. Listed below is their reply.

Thank you for contacting Bodog Casino Customer Service.

With regards to your inquiry we will be operating for business as usual, however, we will be operating under a new brand and website. This is being developed as we speak, as soon as it's ready to launch, a communication will be made to you via email and our website. Please be advised that your account and balance will automatically be transferred across to the new brand once the association with the Bodog brand ends and the business will continue to be run in the same way that has already earned your trust. The new website will be fully licensed to operate its business by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.

I play poker there.
I see many Americans playing.
Where will they go now?

Hi Tom,

Bodog may still be running things behind the scenes. Hopefully, this new casino site will be as reputable as Bodog has been in the past
