The title is pretty self explanatory but this is a quick run down of how i got xp to run on my win 7 machine.

The things you will need:
A XP install Disk
Blank CD/DVD's
A WIN 7 install Disk (in case you mess up)
And a good few hours to do it.

Im going to attach a link thats going to describe to you all the steps that you need to do to go though in order to make this possible.
link:://:.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp.html
There is the link.

Before going into that link i suggest you do this part first : link:://:.sevenforums.com/tutorials/72185-sata-drivers-slipstream-into-windows-xp-cd.html
That will save you a few hours if you do that first. That link can be found in the first link but it doesnt tell you to do it at first and by doing it first will save you alot of trouble. Also with this step you are going to need to know the make of your harddrive and this can be found in Device manager.

Once you're done with streamlining your XP cd go back to the first link and follow the rest of the steps.
Just be sure to have EasyBCD on a flashdrive or some removable media unless you can make sure that you can get you're network running on XP cause when the XP install is done its going to keep booting into Xp until you have fixed your boot registry.

If you follow those steps you should be able to achieve it.

Very Useful Topic this.  :P

Especially, for those who may wish to run a program or two, that needs XP as its O/S.

great stuff.  :thumbsup:

A much easier and safer way would be to install Windows XP mode (Ultimate,Professional,Enterprise)
Otherwise just install some other VM. This will only take 20 minutes tops and you don't need to worry about mucking up your Windows 7 install.
:thumbsup:

Try Ubuntu operating system. Much better than windows. Faster, cleaner and more secure. And its FREE.

What didn't run on your Win7 machine that caused you to install WinXp?

I've got multiple machines here running Win7, WinXP and Vista and they all appear to play nicely together, even the brain dead Win7 Starter edition.

You wont break your install of Win 7 just the boot manager and thats a easy fix. And i did this first BTW. I got the VM and everything and XP mode. But Win7 still interfers somehow cause my programs still didnt run the way i wanted them too.

Now did the dual boot and everything works like a champ.
@adulay
Just a few programs that would not work on win 7.. :thumbsup:

Well alot programs that only work on XP you can run on compability mode in W7.

But this won't work with every program.

Just wanted to point that out.

Yes true - cleaner, faster, more stable, more secure ...
And it is free.
Denial of gamblers fallacy is usually seen in people who has Roulette as last option for a way to wealth, debt covering and a independent lifestyle.  Next step is pretty ugly-
AP - It's not that it can't be done, but rather people don't really have a clue as to the level of fanaticism and outright obsession that it takes to be successful, let alone get to the level where you can take money out of the casinos on a regular basis. Out of 1,000 people that earnestly try, maybe only one will make it.
