1st bet on double dozen is 3-3.  If you lose you have lost 6 units.  If you win you win 3 units.  Also if you win your next bet is 1-1.  If you lose, you will have lost 2 of the 3 units you won and will still be +1 and must start over with 3-3.

If you win 3-3 and 1-1 you will be up 4 units.  Your next bet is 1-1 again.  If you win you will be up +5 units.  If you lose you will still be up +2 units but must start over with 3-3.

In other words, once you win the first bet of 3-3 you can't lose even if you finally do lose a bet and if you happen to win 6 double dozen bets in a row, you will win +14 units.

Since we have almost 2 out of 3 chances to win, we should win plenty of 3-3 bets which gives us a good chance to win even more units.

This is compared to a flat bet which only breaks even if you win the the 1st 2 bets.  But you must win 3 in a row to insure coming out with a positive number.

We can always start with  our 3-3 bet or, we could step up and start with a larger bet to recover lost units more quickly.  The recovery progression will have to be worked out according to how quickly you want to try to recover lost units.  This also includes a greater element of risk of a total bankroll loss.

Darn, there's always something that makes it a challenge.

I guess that's why after 200+ years thousands of people around the globe are still trying their hand at conquering this crazy game.

As for your comment, remember that we have a high probability of winning the next two 3-3 bets which will give us back our 6 lost units.  And if we win the next 3-3 and the next 1-1 we've recovered 4 of the 6.

Actually, the way I play it is with the following progression.

3-3; 1-1; 1-1; 2-2; 3-3 (if lose 2 times move to next)
4-4; 1-1; 2-2; 3-3; 4-4 ( if lose 2 times move to next)
5-5; 2-2; 3-3; 4-4; 5-5 (if lose 2 etc...                   )
7-7; 3-3; 4-4; 5-5; 6-6 ( etc...
9-9; 4-4; 5-5; 6-6; 7-7  etc...
11-11; 5-5; 6-6; 7-7; 8-8
14-14; 6-6; 7-7; 8-8; 9-9
17-17; 8-8; 9-9; 10-10; 11-11

You can continue the progression ad infinitum... Just remember to increase the increment between the starting numbers as you continue up the line.

More units needed to play this way with more risk of a large loss, but also most of the time you will recover losses much quicker.

There's always a trade-off, risk vs reward.

This is just another way of betting double dozens.
It gives us a few more options over 1-1;3-3;9-9; 27-27; 81-81 etc...
