Same words, different meaning.  8)

Dear John:

I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me for other men. I yearn for you. I have no feelings whatsoever when we're apart. I can be forever happy - will you let me be yours?

there could be even more difference. King's order in dark ages:
"Killing -- no. Mercy."
"Killing --no mercy"

@ Victor,

For someone whose first language is not English, you have a much better grasp of it than many native speakers, did you used to live in an English speaking country?

I second that!!

I was particularly impressed by your correct use of the apostrophe in:  VLS' View

A VERY big pat on the back, Victor. Truly excellent!

There are very, very few native English speakers who understand such things.

I continually reach for my gun when I see ITS / IT'S incorrectly used. Something like:  the dog wagged it's tail

Wot? The dog wagged it is tail?

Gawd...

I very much look forward to your answer to that.

Twisteruk

lol  :D

I remember I asked Vic the very same thing about his English

He has a nice accent too.......my partners daughter said to me one time "omg i love his accent"

Anyway have to go walk the dog, its wagging it's tale  :P

HA HA -- you'll keep!  Good one!

I have to admit that one of my pet peeves is using "your" when it should be "you're" - very common.

Would it also be correct to write "VLS's View"? I have a feeling that both are acceptable, but couldn't swear to it.

I don't think that's quite correct when used on abbreviations Bayes.

Its all about who the view belongs to- the person , the name or the abbreviation, as in this case.

Liking the threads man.................... or is that a reference to Ur clothes!! (thread's)  :o

Bayes

You could be right Chris. The doubt is where the word in a phrase denoting ownership ends in an 's'.

Example: Chris's system or Chris' system - are they both correct?
