Odds and payouts are different things. If either the odds or payouts don't change, then the result is the same - eventual loss.

Inspired by AMK s thread, I was looking at the streets instead of straight ups. (Cos I'm lazy)

I was looking at sets of 18 spins and couldn't find any that didnt have at least one triple - that being a street that hits 3 times.

So my question for the guys with clever minds is what kind of progression do we need to bet on each double that appears?

Here is an example...

12

8
11.  Double. Bet street 11
8.    Double. Best streets 11,8 -1
9.    -3
10.  -5
6.   -7
6.   Bet 8,11,6 -9
8.   Win.....

Is there some way of attacking this or is it just a case of table limits winning out?

Three more goes . not saying that flat betting is gonna work here but maybe a mild type of progression will work

Hi,

you'll get no hit in 18 spins +/- 2,25% of times, according to my test (452/20000).  You can expect 3 hits or more 60% of times.

Most of the time you won't need a prog to reach a positive score.  Progression depends on how many streets are played.

Probably an easier game than stright-ups for tracking...

Thanks B,

so what's your opinion, does it have legs this one? Worth testing further or shall I bin it

Bigbroben

Ok I think it's good.  Not a HG, will fall to house edge, but I think it's an easier play and a good winrate when applying only a small progression.
I'll check for a positive progression aiming at 3 hits or more.

Cool, will be interested to find that out, saves me spending days testing by hand.

I knew almost nothing of Excel a year ago.  It's feasible step by step.

It took 60 seconds and I have 1000 trials of 18 spins with an edge of 3,38%.  If I had it done manually over weeks or months, I might have called Eureka on it.

... 2 minutes late: -1,75%.

Sheeeeet!

That flatbet or with pos prog?

Brings forth the old argument that I could've spent the rest of my life playing those first 18,000 spins and on my death bed, been a true roulette winner....philosophical question, but at what point do humungous tests become inconsequential?
