assuming this is a joke

"To a cosmic ray proton traveling at nearly the speed of light, Earth appears to be a mere 56 feet (17 meters) thick. "

QuoteAccording to our understanding of physics, a planet such as Earth couldn't be a flat disk, as the force of its own gravity would cause it to collapse into a ball. But, for a fun hypothetical's sake, let's assume a disk-Earth is possible. In this case, gravity would prevent you from simply walking to the edge. Its pull toward the center would become stronger as you walked away from it, eventually causing you to feel as though you are climbing a steeper and steeper hill. Reaching the edge itself would be near impossible, because at that point, "down" and "behind you" would be the same direction.

its true

think of mass

if all the mass of earth was compacted into a flat disc, the gravity would be so extreme

Exactly true.
And since the speed of light is constant and one of the best ways to measure anything in the universe - to a proton approaching Earth - our planet is 17 meters thick and NOT round.
It is only round because we "observe" it as being round because we are not in motion as the particle is.
But no one wants to hear that. Instead people think that whatever "WE" observe is the real reality - and whatever other measurements there are don't matter. Ignorant we are as a species.

You would think that with Quantum Theory coming around as more mainstream, that people would be open to things outside of their own limited observation.
For example, we now know that a atom can be "here" or "there" or "both" or "neither" all at the same time. What you do to one happens to the other (even if it's moved to the other side of the universe) - but again, no.... people aren't ready for that. We are still killing each other over imaginary "Gods" that created everything (and us). For shame.

i am in tune with everything you just said

ive read up on string theory

and many things

the fact that this universe is over 12 dimensions and we only comprehend 3 of them

atoms can affect eachother being on opposite ends of the universe

but the earth, is round

to a particle traveling at the speed of light the earth may be 17 meters thick. but if i dive into an ocean im going a lot deeper than that

i drove up a volcano 10 thousand feet above sea level

scientists now know our brains create an illusion of what we "see", people arent ready for that and you are right....its a hologram...this is science....but celestial bodies are spherical, sorry turner i mean OBLATE

I think actually we all know sweet FA and all too easily believe what we read. Myself included although i try not to.

We all need to make minds up from our own observations. As for flat earth, the more i look into it the more i see the flat earthers have really bad logic, bad analysis and bad understanding. Not to offend anyone but I've had an open mind and an unbiased look. Round.

It's not a big deal to offend a flat earther

The logic is so flawed and ignorant they deserve to feel a little shame

That's the problem lol.
In that case - the sky is blue (which it's not).
The sun is yellow (which it isn't)
Your blood is blueish in some veins (looks that way right ?)
We can see orange (which we can't - it's not a real color and every person sees it in a different way)
There are thousands (if not more) of things that we observe that aren't true.
So to think something is right or wrong based on what we see, hear, smell, taste, touch, etc etc is wrong.
You can argue all day that the top and bottom of this image are two different colors, but they are exactly the same.

Yes i agree a lot of things aren't what they seem. And yes senses alone are unreliable.  Your example is good. But you know even a reasonable mind is easily fooled with new things.

It's easy to think you are right and others have the problem, when it may be the other way around. It's hard to grasp you actually are the ignorant one.

So even with flat earth theory i had an open mind.  And i still do. But i still haven't seen a single piece of reasonable evidence.

You might argue I'm ignorant about certain things.  Maybe i am.  But i take the same open approach.  When theres a claim, i first want some substantiating information.

Basically ignorance is one of my pet peeves. I see it everywhere. Clueless people about everything imaginable.

But im sure on some level I'm no different.  So ill at least try to keep it in mind.

falkor2k15

There's no optical illusion involved in the flat earth... you either stop being confused and look into it properly or continue being the victim of a prank - unable to escape the cage put around your head by the people who print your money.

In our observable 3-D world the way our brains to see things the planet is round

What you keep ignoring is how modern technology would never allow such a prank to exist

Falkor I've been looking at this a lot in spare time out of interest.  And it looks more like a deliberate disinformation campaign. Could be a bad joke. Who knows.

Either way the so called proof is loaded with blatant mistakes.

Really im not biased about it. Im looking for and wanting tangible evidence but cant find any.

The thing with flat earth theory is all their points can be deligitamized.

For every point they make we make an equal point

But we have video and photo proof. Which he says is a hoax

But when entrepreneurs and projects prove it with cheap cameras on a balloon what's left to argue

They grasp at straws

They really want to believe this it's sad to watch

Maybe but i still think theres a much deeper illusion about our world we can't easily see. Our mere observations arent enough. I also do a lot of dmt research
