Flat Earth theory questions

It's easy to accuse others of being ignorant. Very few people genuinely consider that maybe they are the ignorant ones. I don't think Earth is flat for many reasons. The idea of it just seems ridiculous. But I decided to look into what "flat Earthers" are saying. Because who knows, maybe I'm the ignorant one this time no matter how ridiculous the concept may seem.

Summary of my conclusions so far:

* Some of the theories and so-called proof is absolutely ridiculous. Like one guy who sayd you could fly a plane alone the equator and never be inverted. But if you flew between the north and south poles, you would eventually be inverted. And this was his conclusive proof. Ok so yeah, this guy was off his rocker and there are many others. But I wont assume every flat-Earther is the same.

* The most interesting "proof" I've found is some experiments in the curvature of the Earth. But basically the claim is based on the apparent size of the Earth, the curvature should be visible from even a light plane, or even mountain. I'm still looking into it. I suspect one of the people making this claim has made terribly inaccurate calculations.

* Assuming the photos I've seen are real, there is rather clear evidence that NASA has edited photos of Earth. Why? I don't know, but although suspicious, it's not proof of a flat Earth.

* The vast majority of "proof" is just not proof at all. It is speculation at best. Flat-Earthers can easily criticize evidence of a spherical Earth, but not even weaker evidence of their theories.

* I havent seen any proof even close to credible that explains obvious things like why circumnavigating the world in a boat or plane is possible (I dont believe everyone that has done it is in on the conspiracy).

Falkor, maybe you can help me with this question: If there was something like an alien conspiracy with a flat Earth, WHY would it need to be "flat"? From what we know of physics, a flat Earth would be a much more problematic shape than a sphere.

My point is the conspiracy could exist the same whether Earth was flat or round.

I have an open mind and already know there are some things going on that may be nowhere near what they first seem. I would love for there to be some solid proof of the flat Earth theory. It'd be really interesting. But I just don't see anything convincing yet. At best, I see only things like evidence of edited photos, and calculations that dont appear to be accurate.

Steve, it doesn't seem like you've watched that particular documentary overview linked above? If you did you wouldn't be asking basic questions about perspective? This is covered quite in-depth in most docus with actual footage showing what happens when you zoom in and out of objects at sea - with newer zoom cameras like the Nikon P900.

Replace "zoom test" with "nikon p900" for more results - again, look for LOW view counts, so is not a propaganda video.

Thanks but perhaps you can suggest a video. The ones I've seen aren't particularly convincing. And besides light bends with layers of hot and cold air.

Believe me I'm having an open mind about this. I just haven't yet found anything to convince me.

Steve, the appearance of ships "disappearing over the horizon" used to be considered an argument for the curvature of the earth - but it's now clear that they are brought back into view with binoculars or zoom camera. They only appear to sink due to the perspective and the vanishing point. If you doubt this is what the evidence shows - you could try it yourself - then we will have to agree to differ.

There's several reasons to deceive the masses with a globe earth:
*Since we live in a closed system and not among the infinite space of stars and planets then we would no longer consider ourselves insignificant.
*Control outer zones and stop the masses from being distracted about what exists beyond the ice walls - keep them imprisoned.
*Mockery of the masses by the elite so they can have a chuckle and feel special.

I wish I had time to do the testing myself. But even if I did, it comes back to whether the Earth is flat or round doesnt appear to make a difference. I already reasonably believe / know we are being controlled. For the the people who think I'm nuts, you have no idea. I'm a reasonable person.

I'm sure I've answered this before... the elite are mocking and deceiving the masses by doing a prank about the nature of reality and our habitat. So they have effectively brainwashed and mind controlled everyone - all part of their means for maintaining total control. So unless we snap out of this trance-like state of being confused, not caring and life having no purpose - we just carry on becoming more and more enslaved and essentially more stupid for not knowing basic facts/knowledge. It's like if your brother kept trying to tell you that your laptop was green, but you knew your laptop was black, you would say something like "stop trying to tell me my laptop is green. I am not colour-blind - it's black. Go and find somebody else to play pranks on". And let's say you became adults and your brother still kept trying to tell you that your white macbook pro is also green... why tolerate that from your brother? He has no right to keep abusing you - and you shouldn't stand idly by, thinking... "well, maybe I am colour blind"? That's when your brother knows he's gotcha!
