Hi all,

This is just a quick question for those who is fond of this game.

Have you ever felt as if your ego has been extremely lifted after u've won at a table and felt trashed when u realised u've lost ur winnings / capital?

I notice every time I win , I am excited to share the experience with people.  I feel happy that I can walk away with surplus cash, especially if it was a big win.  Then a few sessions later when i lost i felt silly as if I'd regret my betting decision and felt like a failure (well, ok maybe that's a bit exaggerating, but I hope u get my point)

I found myself caught in this cycle.  High ups, Low downs.

My current situation:

Over the last 2 mths, i started off with $1000.  managed to win $4000.  Then I lost $5000 over a few visits.  Felt discouraged and stopped playing roulette for a week.

I picked it up again with the same starting capital.  I started winning and made another $8000.  Then I lost them again after a few rounds.

I became upset.  Stopped for 2 weeks.

And now I am back to the game.  Currently made $6000.  Now I'm feeling a little afraid, to be honest, that i'll give it back to the casino, at the same time i really enjoy the game and wud really like to continue playing.

Has anyone out there  ever be caught in similar situation? Any advise?

Hello Wix,

Congratulations on the wins. They can be hard to come by at times. My advice would be to treat yourself and your loved ones when you have a good sized win.
There is an old saying in gambling.  'easy come....easy go!'   It is so true. By spending your winnings, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you did not give it all back.
By doing this, you will find it easier to accept the losses that come along in the future without kicking yourself. That is my philosophy anyhow.

An excellent answer by Fluky Luke.

Consider it this way wix.

Have a look at being quite sensible here now, and turning Ur $6000

into 6 x $1000 bankrolls.

That way, U will always have a back-up Bank Roll.

and.....................

with a small roll-on-roll bank, the temptation to bet BIG when Ur at the table next time will be reduced.

U will play with more caution, with a new BR of $1000.

U'll play with more gusto.

U have a back-up.

U'll lose less (I think).

At least try it as an option.

In the old maxim------------------------------- YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE!!

Best of luck to u.

Is there a system to come forward from Ur play?
or is it just down to luck?

wix

Thanks for that.

Everytime when I think about it I feel that I've lost $14,000 even though they were winnings.  So now that I currently won $6000 it feels taht I still have to win another $8000.

Have u ever felt this way? i know this is the wrong of seeing it but that's what is happening right? DO you count your wins at the end of each night or at the end of each week / mth?

I'm finding Roulette a very challenging and emotional game.  lol.

chrisbis

Yep.

I felt like that.

I won (smaller beer I know, but a win is a win as they say!) Ã,£1100 last week.

Then, even tho I said I would siphon off some of the winnings, I took a gamble
because of the feeling of this larger 'safety net', but it went right down to Ã,£185.00

I recovered, took it back up again to Ã,£1240.00, but then stupidly, did not install a virtual
or otherwise 'Stop-Loss' point, and it went spiraling down to Ã,£300.

Ridiculous really..............One would never do it, if U thought about it!!

So now I have a new strategy.

Rather like the one I out-lined in my last post.

Watch us big doggs, the MEN, play at a REAL casino, on a REAL table. All we ask is that you stay out of our way. The rest? Bots, airball, RNG...that's more for the Kitty Kat Klub. Its the big doggs and the kittens!! Winning is not an event, it's a process and it takes YEARS and YEARS to master > link:://:.eonline.com/eol_images/Entire_Site/2014127/rs_560x415-140227131132-1024.bulldog-kittens3.jpg... To be great, you have to be willing to be mocked, hated and misunderstood.

Hi Chrisbis,

I play in a real casino and bet in progression.  I am fully aware of how many people are against progression.  Even for myself, i feel that it works very well on some days while in other days it flunked terribly.

in any spin I bet on 12 numbers as straight up.  if none of the numbers hit, I raised my wager.  I can raised a maximum of 10 times, or i'll be completely empty.

Choice of numbers to bet are based on "cold" numbers if it's an air wheel roulette, and "Hot" number if its spun by a human dealer.

I usually started off with a $1 table, and if I win enough, I'll use the winnings as capital and move on to a $2. 50 table.  And if I win on the $2. 50 table and i"ll move on to $5, then $10 tables.

It's probably sounds very impulsive, but it's actually not.  it's a very gradual progress.  I spend about 2-4 hrs playing the game.

How I lost my previous winnings was because I got over confident and skipped my progression steps.  Instead of starting off with $5 on a $5 table, I started off with $25.  So u can imagine the damage I've brought to myself.

That was what happened.  I am now learning from my terrible mistakes and I hope that no one else will be as silly as me.

Hi Wix
Welcome.

I was struck by the simplicity and honesty of your direct introduction and question. Really pleased others have given you great advice.

The advice from Chris is particularly very shrewd.
You have fantastic fresh opportunities ahead.

Let go of the past; that is water under the bridge.

Every day can be a new beginning as you learn to grow your skills and your profits. It is a road that climbs upward but with occasional bumps and dips.

However I would emphasise that you stay detached from the results to a certain level. If you should lose, analyse why you lost but dont feel any emotions such as blame or guilt or self loathing!!!

Like wise when you win, dont feel that this could go on for ever and that you are the greatest! You may be but dont get too attached to results.

It's a process of learning and growing.

To be honest we have probably all felt as you did when we started. Life as a roller coaster is just no good to you or anyone around you. You are not in control and it is the game/ the action that has you in its control.

By starting to really understand and respect the game; to study, research , test and improve your skills then you can combine real enjoyment and the fantastic and limitless pleasure of giving to those you love and care for through your proven skills at winning. Little steps first, then bigger challenges.

That is to be respected.

Good Hunting.

PS Wix
Dont get involved in progression chasing. Research alternative ways to bet.

Hi wix,

be very careful!

Your reactions and behaviour sound to me like the beginning of a severe gambling-problem.

YouÃ,´d better examin the ups and downs of winningstreaks and losingstreaks of your system (if you have one) and then play following the waves.

Hello Wix.  You've got to take the emotions out of it.  Believe it or not, the enemy is seeing gambling as "fun".  It is a business involving money, your money and the house edge, which is always against you.  Once you see is like going to work, like 9 to 5 (start work promptly at 9, end precisely at 5) for example, and the discipline that comes with a job (keeping a cash register approach to your money, allotted money out/in, profit/loss for each session/day.) then you be fully equipped to gamble in my opinion and not likely have such swings in bankroll.
